Abstract: C2-C4-olefins are prepared by catalytic conversion of methanol and/or dimethyl ether in the presence of a zeolite catalyst at elevated temperatures by a process wherein the catalyst used is a borosilicate zeolite which is treated with hydrogen fluoride, molded together with an amorphous aluminosilicate as a binder and then treated with hydrochloric acid.

Abstract: A catalyst for ethylene oxide prodn. is prepd. by gas-phase reaction of ethylene with O2. The catalyst comprises a support, 2-12% Ag, and (based on Ag) 0.05-0.35 atom % K, 0.003-0.25 atom % Rb, 0.0005-0.2 atom % Cs or an equiv. amt. of a mixt. of these alkali metals. The process comprises impregnating the Ag-contg. support (opt. also contg. Na and/or Li) with a soln. (pref. alcoholic) contg. a cpd. of K, Rb and/or Cs and an amine and/or ammonia. The presence of an amine and/or ammonia in the impregnation soln. improves the selectively of the catalyst. The process is applicable to fresh catalysts rather than used or thermally stabilised catalysts.

Abstract: Gases of various origins which contain carbon monoxide and dioxide and hydrogen, for example the gases obtained by steam reforming or the rich gas process, refinery gases or coal gasification gases are methanized on a nickel catalyst. The object of this reaction is to obtain methane or gases which can be substituted for natural gas. To produce the catalyst, the compound Ni6Al2(OH)16.CO3.4H2O is obtained from aqueous solution. The catalyst is obtained from this compound after drying, calcination and subsequent reduction in a stream of hydrogen, whilst maintaining very specific temperature gradients between the drying stage and the calcination stage.
