    Abstract: Thermoplastic polyurethanes produced by reacting an isocyanate with a specific diol mixture are new, where the diol mixture comprises: a polyester diol (I) with a m.pt. above 150 [deg]C; a polyether diol and/or polyester diol (II) with a m.pt. below 150 [deg]C and a molecular weight of 501-8000; and optionally a diol (III) with a molecular weight of 62-500. Independent claims are also included for: (1) A process for producing thermoplastic polyurethanes, comprising reacting a thermoplastic polyester with (III) and combining the product with (II) to obtain a diol mixture as above, and reacting the diol mixture with an isocyanate, optionally in the presence of catalysts and/or additives; (2) Films, shaped parts, rolls, fibers, automobile paneling, hoses, cable plugs, bellows, towing cables, cable sheathing, seals, belts or damping elements comprising the thermoplastic polyurethanes; (3) Mixtures of the thermoplastic polyurethanes and other thermoplastic materials.

Independent claims are included for: (1) the production of (I) by mixing a thermoplastic polyurethane with a diol having a mol. wt. of 62-700 g/mol, followed by the addition of an isocyanate and optionally an isocyanate reactive compound, having a mol. wt. of 701-8000, diols having a mol. wt. of 62-700, catalyst and/or additive and/or pressing aids; and (2) The production of film, molded articles, rolls, fibers or cladding in automobiles, ducting, cable connectors, bellows, cable sheathing, sealant, or dampening elements containing the thermoplastic polyurethane (I).
