    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of enantiomer-pure (S)-3-methylamino-1-(thien-2-yl)propan-1-ol of formula (II-S) by obtaining (S)-3-hydroxy-3-thien-2-ylproipionitril from its enantiomer mixture with the R-isomer and by subsequently reacting (S)-3-hydroxy-3-thien-2-ylpropionitril with hydrogen and methylamine in the presence of a catalyst in order to obtain (II-S).
