Abstract: Un método para separar acetonitrilo de agua, que comprende (i) proveer una corriente S1 que contiene al menos 95% en peso, con base en el peso total de S1, acetonitrilo y agua, en donde la relación en peso de acetonitrilo:agua es mayor que 1; (ii) agregar a una corriente P, que comprende al menos 95% en peso de C3, con base en el peso total de la corriente P, a S1 para obtener una corriente mixta S2, siendo C3 propeno mezclado opcionalmente con propano con una relación en peso mínima de propeno:propano de 7:3; (iii) someter S2 a una temperatura en el rango de 5 a 90°C y a una presión de al menos 10x105 Pa (10 bar), obteniendo una primera fase líquida L1, en donde al menos 90% en peso de L1 consiste de C3, acetonitrilo y agua, y una segunda fase líquida L2 en donde al menos 90% en peso de L2 consiste de acetonitrilo y agua, y en donde la relación en peso de acetonitrilo:agua en L2 es menor de 1; (iv) separar L1 de L2.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst for the epoxidation of alkenes, comprising silver, rhenium, cesium, lithium, tungsten and sulfur on a support. The present invention further relates to a process for producing the catalyst and the use of the catalyst for the oxidation of alkylenes to alkylene oxides. In addition, the present invention relates to a process for preparing ethylene oxide from ethylene, which comprises the oxidation of ethylene with oxygen in the presence of said catalyst.
