    Abstract: New substituted benzimidazoles have the formula (I), in which R stands for hydrogen, alkyl, alcoxy or possibly substituted aryl; R stands for hydroxy, cyano or possibly substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkinyloxy, alkylthio, amino, aminocarbonyl, alkylcarbonyl, alcoxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonyloxy, dialcoxyphosphonyl, (hetero)aryl, (hetero)arylcarbonyl, (hetero)aryloxycarbonyl, (hetero)arylcarbonyloxy or (hetero)arylaminocarbonylaminocarbonyloxy; R stands for fluoroalkyl; X , X , X and X represent independently from each other hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, possibly substituted alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl or cycloalkyl, condensed, possibly substituted dioxyalkylene, hydroxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, cycloalkyloxycarbonyl, possibly substituted amino or aminocarbonyl or aryl, aryloxy, arylthio, arylsulfinyl, arylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyloxy, arylcarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, arylazo or arylthiomethylsulfonyl. At least one of the substituents X , X , X ou X stands however for alkylhalide, except for the chloromethyl residue, alkoxyhalide, alkylthiohalide, alkylsulfinylhalide, alkylsulfonylhalide, alkylsulfonyle, condensed, possibly substituted dioxyalkylene, hydroxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonyl, alcoxycarbonyl, cycloalkyloxycarbonyl, possibly substituted amino or aminocarbonyl or aryl, arylthio, arylsulfinyl, araylsulfonyl, arylsufonyloxy, arylcarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, arylazo ou arylthiomethylsulfonyl. Also disclosed are the preparation of these compounds and their use as pesticides, as well as intermediate products suitable for preparing the same.

The novel compounds of the formula (I) have a highly pronounced activity against pests, in particular a good insecticidal, acaricidal and ovicidal activity.
