    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous ink containing a black pigment, excellent in issuing stability after the interruption of a printing operation when used for an ink-jet recording, by compounding a specific compound, water and a coloring material comprising a specified self-dispersion type carbon black. SOLUTION: This aqueous ink containing a black pigment is obtained by compounding (A) 0.1-15 wt.% of a coloring material comprising a self-dispersion type carbon black to whose surface one or more hydrophilic groups are bonded directly or through one or more other atomic groups, (B) 1-30 wt.% of a compound of the formula [(n) is 1 or 2; (m) is 0-2] (for example, 3-methyl-1,3- butanediol) and (C) 50-95 wt.% of water. The hydrophilic groups in the component A preferably comprise -COOM [M is H, an alkali metal or (organic) ammonium], -SO3 M, -SO2 NH2 , -PO3 HM, -PO3 M2 , -NH 3 , etc., and the other atomic groups in the component A preferably comprise a 1-12C alkyl, (substituent- containing) phenyl, (substituent-containing) naphthyl, etc.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which improves the life and ink delivery characteristics of an ink jet recording head by using a detergent in an effective amount for cleaning the recording head. SOLUTION: A compound having oxidizing power is preferable as the detergent. Examples of such compounds are hydrogen peroxide, sodium percarbonate, sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate, sodium perborate, sodium peroxide, sodium periodate, sodium hypochlorite, sodium perchlorate, sodium persulfate, and peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide being the most favorable. The content of the detergent is preferably 0.05-40 wt.%. Normally, the detergent is compounded into water to prepare the composition. The use of deionized water is preferable. A water-soluble organic solvent may be compounded into the composition. The composition is especially effective for cleaning a head which delivers ink drops by the action of heat energy.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a reliable ink, an ink jet recording method and an equipment using the ink by imparting fluidity to the whole ink under particular conditions and forming the initial composition of the ink of a colorant, water, and a liq. medium. SOLUTION: This ink is prepd. so that, upon evaporation of water in the ink in an environment of 60 deg.C, the whole ink is fluid, no floated precipitate is produced in the gas-liq. interface and the viscosity of the ink in this state in an environment of 60 deg.C is not more than 600 times the viscosity of the ink in the original state before the evaporation of water in the ink. The initial composition of the ink comprises at least a colorant, water, and a liq. medium capable of being dissolved or dispersed in water, and, pref., even when the ink is again allowed to stand in an environment of 25 deg.C after the evaporation of water in the ink in the environment of 60 deg.C, the fluidity of the whole ink is not lost. A water-soluble polymer compd. containing at least one compound selected from phosphoric acid, sulfonic acid, and carboxylic acid in a free acid form in the ink is used in combination of the colorant and the like.

An ink jet ink is prepd. by mixing 0.1-15wt.% at least one dye selected from among those dyes, 5-35wt.% water-sol. org. solvent, and 50-90wt.% water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an ink for ink-jetting having excellent solubilization stability and an ideal black tint by using a specific coating mixture as a coloring agent and dissolving thc mixture in a liquid medium containing a polyhydric alcohol, an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, urea, an ammonium salt of inorganic acid and a hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:The ink is prepared by dissolving a coloring agent containing (A) at least one of dyes of the formula (R is NH4; Y is H, SO3R) and (B) a yellow dye containing C. I. acid yellow 17: 1, C. I. acid yellow 23 or the like in the liquid medium. The liquid medium contains a polyhydric alcohol, an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, urea, an ammonium salt of inorganic acid and a hydroxide. It shows excellent water resistance, when ordinary paper, for example, for copying or reporting, is recorded with the ink.
