Abstract: PURPOSE:To promote reliability of data by deciding reliability of memory data before power fails by the length of a time of power failure to be actually measured. CONSTITUTION:When outside power is normal, power to each section is supplied from a power section 10. In the case of power fails, a bulk RAM8, a real time clock(RTC)5 and an RAM2 are respectively backed up by a capacitor 9, a secondary battery 6 and a secondary battery 3. A control section 1 reads out an actual time to be stored in a register 20 of the RTC5 whenever a periodical interruption from the RTC5 is accepted, and it is stored in the inside register. In the case of power fails, the time is not read out. Accordingly, in the case of power energizes, a time of power failure is obtained by comparing an actual time stored in the register 20 in the RTC5 with the contents of a resister of the control section 1. When the time of power failure is in excess of a specified value, the data in the RAM8 is handled as unliable one.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease a picture error by outputting a next page presence signal when a prescribed quantity or over of a picture data exists in a reception buffer and outputting a message end signal when a prescribed quantity or below of the data exists therein so as to prepare the data in the procedures processing an opposite party type identification signal or the succeeding procedure at the end of one pattern in the facsimile mode. CONSTITUTION:When a picture to be sent further exists after the end of picture transmission, a next page presence signal is outputted when a prescribed quantity of picture data is received in a reception buffer and a message end signal is outputted when not received to retard a reply signal to an opposite party identification signal thereby storing the sufficient picture data into buffer. It has been conventionally difficult to send a data from a host to a communication function within 6sec after a CFR (reception preparation confirmation) or an MCF (message confirmation), but it is made possible. Moreover, a prescribed quantity of buffer data to a communication function to be correspondent to the change in the transmission speed of the data to the line depending on the fine picture is provided to send a correct picture.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To disconnect a line at an optional point of time from a personal computer or a word processor by disconnecting the line being in FAX communication by a command from a personal host. Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify an application program by informing contents of an identification signal received from an opposite party and discriminated to be effective by a communication controller to a personal computer or a word processor at the procesure of the connection. CONSTITUTION:In receiving a CNR (call) command 1 from a personal computer, an automatic call 2 is applied to call an opposite FAX and when a telephone network is connected to the opposite FAX, an RNC (connection confirmation) command 3 is sent to the personal computer to send a CNG (call tone) signal 4. In receiving a DIS (digital identification) signal 15 from an opposite signal, the contents are discriminated and when the contents are effective, an LRA (called terminal equipment not confirmed) command is sent to the personal computer. In receiving the DIS signal in this way, the communication controller informs the contents to the personal computer or the word processor when the contents are effective. Thus, since the personal computer or the word processor has only to await the LRA command, the application program is not complicated.

Resistances R1-R6 limit currents flowing to the light emitting diodes p1-p6. In addition, the CPU interrupts succeeding processing on the occurrence of the 1st error and then outputs an error signal, so >=2 of error e1- e5 never turn on at the same time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease the number of function keys, by previously calling out a desired one of the function keys which are written into an ROM and providing a key that can be used exclusively for the desired function. CONSTITUTION:A power supply switch 4 is turned on, and a function FK set key 5 is pressed. The number corresponding to the desired FK is supplied as shown by 01, 06, 13 and so on by means of a 10-key block 6. After this, an FK key 7 is depressed. Thus the FK called out of an ROM is designated to an f1 key 7 by an RAM, and the key 7 can be used as the ordinary FK keys sin, arctan, etc. In the same way, either one of 17 FK keys shown in the diagram can be selected and used also for an f2 key 8 and an f3 key 9, respectively. An old FK is erased if a new FK is supplied later, and the supplied FK is erased when the power supply is switched off. In such a way, the number of FK keys can be decreased without decreasing the number of functions FK.
