The reactor contents are thoroughly mixed by gas injection. Also claimed is an apparatus for the above process, with a pipe connection for taking off a high-solids suspension and an inlet tube for a liquid medium above the gas injector, the outlet of this tube being located in the cloud of bubbles formed when the apparatus is working.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of cyclic 4-oxoamidines. Such substances are precursors of active substances having biological action. The process according to the invention forms a further method of obtaining this class of compound. By reacting condensation products of aldehydes and amino-nitriles or amino acid amides with oxidising agents, the desired cyclic 4-oxoamidines are obtained according to the invention in good to very good yields.

Abstract: The process recovers two or more fractions of granules of differing size distribution, from a continuous fluidised bed spray granulator. Classification devices are used to extract the product. The granule residence time in the bed is held constant. At the same time, an area ratio is adjusted, enabling a periodic oscillation of the particle size distribution. This is the area ratio of the time integral of the extraction area (f) of the extractor(s), to the base area (F) of the bed. To increase the amplitude fluctuation between maximum and minimum mean granule diameter, the area ratio f/F is reduced in an interval. Then, maintaining this ratio, the granules are extracted in successive fractions, with differing size distributions. Also claimed is the apparatus for carrying out the above process.
