Each of data of two viewpoints, constituting a stereoscopic video, may be received at predetermined time intervals. When first viewpoint video data is received among the data of the two viewpoint, a storage unit of an image processing apparatus may generate a monoscopic video using the received first viewpoint video data. The first viewpoint video data may be stored. When second viewpoint video data corresponding to the first viewpoint video data is received, the stereoscopic video may be generated by mixing the first viewpoint video data with the second viewpoint video data, and thereby be displayed.

Disclosed are a video encoding/decoding method and apparatus including a plurality of views. The video decoding method including the plurality of views comprises the steps of: inducing basic combination motion candidates for a current Prediction Unit (PU) to configure a combination motion candidate list; inducing expanded combination motion candidates for the current PU when the current PU corresponds to a depth information map or a dependent view; and adding the expanded combination motion candidates to the combination motion candidate list.

Provided are a method and apparatus of synchronizing a reference picture and an additional picture of a real-time broadcasting program. The method includes: receiving an MPEG-2 transport stream (MPEG-2 TS) including a program level descriptor and an elementary stream (ES) level descriptor from a picture transmitting apparatus; loading an additional picture corresponding to a reference picture included in the elementary stream (ES) level descriptor from a memory provided in the picture receiving apparatus, based on file information regarding the reference picture; calculating a time difference between a current frame of the reference picture and a reference time stamp, based on the reference time stamp which is included in the program level descriptor and indicates a start time of a frame regarding the reference picture; synchronizing the frame regarding the reference picture and a frame regarding the additional picture by using the time difference; and providing a stereoscopic picture based on the synchronized frames regarding the reference picture and the additional picture. A stereoscopic video service can be stably provided.

In a method of transmitting broadcasting signals, a transmission frame has the same configuration as that of the existing terrestrial DMB signal. A transmission frame including a base layer service stream is modulated to a base layer, and a transmission frame including an enhancement layer service stream is modulated to an enhancement layer. The enhancement layer service stream is composed of additional data that is not included in the base layer service stream, in order to provide an enhancement layer service. In this way, the method can provide a high-quality service requiring high transmission efficiency while being compatible with the existing terrestrial DMB system. The high transmission efficiency means a higher data transfer rate than that of the existing terrestrial DMB system.

The present invention relates to a video encoding/decoding method and apparatus, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for generating a reference image for a multiview video. The video encoding method includes, in the presence of a second image having a different view from a first image having a first view, transforming the second image to have the first view, generating a reference image by adding the second image to a side of the first image, and storing the reference image in a reference picture list.

The transmission method for providing the 3D service while making a reference image transmitted in real-time interwork with an additional image transmitted separately from the reference image includes a real-time reference image stream generating step of generating a real-time reference image stream based on the reference image and transmitting the generated real-time reference image stream to a receiving side in real-time and an additional image transmitting step of transmitting the additional image providing the 3D service in interworking with the reference image to the receiving side separately from the reference image stream, wherein the real-time reference image stream includes a linkage information, which is information relating to the additional image to be interworking with the reference image and synchronization information for synchronization with the reference image and the additional image and content.
