    Abstract: There is disclosed a process for the preparation of novel transparent polyamides with improved properties. These polyamides are obtained by polycondensing 1,3-bis-(amino-methyl)-cyclohexane, which can be partly substituted by the 1,4-derivative, at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid and at least one amino-carboxylic acid or the lactam thereof with at least one aliphatic straight chain or branched diamine or/and at least one aliphatic straight chain or branched dicarboxylic acid.

    Abstract: 1,207,440. Polyester moulding composition. FARBWERKE HOECHST A.G. 7 Oct., 1968 [7 Oct., 1967], No. 47434/68. Heading C3R. A polyester-based moulding composition is made by blending (a) a linear, saturated polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol and (b) 0.1% to 10% by weight of the total mixture, of poly-3-methyl butene-1 of molecular wt. above 5000 and of which at least 80% of the particles are 10Á or less in size. The preferred polyesters are polyethylene terephthalate or polycyclohexane - 1,4 - dimethylol terephthalate, and the former containing also units of naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxylic acid, adipic acid, neopentyl glycol or butane-1,4-diol. Blending methods specified are (1) stirring the finely divided poly-3-methylbutene-1 with the molten polyester, or (2) mixing the granulated components, melting in an extruder, extruding whilst cooling, and then granulating the resulting solid. The composition may also contain nucleating agents such as finely divided calcium carbonate, aluminium silicate or talc.

    Abstract: 1283644 Polyester-based moulding composition FARBWERKE HOECHST AG 9 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 33378/70 Heading C3R A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises a linear saturated polyester of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and optionally up to 10% by wt. of an aliphatic diacid or a hydroxycarboxylic acid with a saturated aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diol, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, and an alkali metal salt of a phosphonic acid RPO(OH) 2 , a phosphonic halfester RPO(OR 1 )(OH), a phosphinic acid R 2 PO(OH) or a phosphonous acid RP(OH) 2 where R and R 1 are hydrocarbon radicals of up to 15 carbon atoms, the additive comprising 0À005 to 5 wt. per cent relative to the polyester. The use of the disodium salt of n-hexyl phosphonic acid and the sodium salt of diphenyl phosphinic acid is described in Examples 1 and 2. Paraffin or other wax may be used as a coating on granules of the composition to exclude moisture.
