Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of hydroxycarboxanilides of the formula (1) (1), in which R1 and R2 are identical or different and are hydrogen, halogen, a nitro group, a cyano group, a straight-chain or branched alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or alkoxy group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 7 to 12 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, R3 is hydrogen or a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 1 to 12, by reacting a halocarboxanilide of the formula (2) (2), in which R1, R2, R3 and n have the same meaning as in formula (1) and Hal is chlorine, bromine or iodine, with a basic compound in a solvent mixture comprising water and one or more polar aprotic solvents at a temperature of 40 to 180.degree.C.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of 5-fluoroanthranilic alkyl esters and/or 5-fluoroanthranilic acid, which comprises dissolving a 3-fluorobenzoic alkyl ester in sulfuric acid and reacting the solution with nitrating acid at from -10 to 30.degree.C, then adding water, separating off the nitrated reaction product and reacting it with hydrogen at from 50 to 120.degree.C under elevated pressure in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal of the platinum group and sulfur, and, if desired, removing 5-fluoroanthranilic alkyl esters by distillation and hydrolyzing them to give 5-fluoro-anthranilic acid.

Abstract: Fluorinated benzils and a process for their preparation A process for the preparation of fluorinated benzils of the formula (1) (1) in which X1-X6, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine atoms, or alkyl(C1-C10), phenyl or naphthyl groups which may be substituted, or are groups reducing the electron density, at least one of the substituents X1-X6 being a fluorine atom, by reacting 1 mol of a benzil of the formula (1), in which X1-X6 and R1 and R2 have the abovementioned meanings, with the proviso that at least one of the substituents X1-X6 is a chlorine atom, with about 0.8 to about 2.5 mol of potassium fluoride, rubidium fluoride, cesium fluoride or tetraalkyl (C1-C18)-ammonium fluoride per chlorine atom to be exchanged, at temperatures of from about 100.degree.C to about 280.degree.C, possibly in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst and a dipolar aprotic or nonpolar solvent, and the new benzils prepared by this process.
