Abstract: PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 2,2'-DICHLORO-HYDRAZOBENZENE of the disclosure: The catalytic hydrogenation of o-nitro-chlorobenzene in aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solution with addition of an aromatic non-watermiscible solvent at an elevated temperature and under pressure using a noble metal catalyst and a polycyclic quinone as a co-catalyst leads to high and wellreproducible yields of 2,2'-dichloro-hydrazobenzene when the quinone is a derivative of anthraquinone, especially a hydroxy-anthraquinone. The product is obtained in so high a quality that it can be transformed without isolation or purification into 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of 5-fluoroanthranilic alkyl esters and/or 5-fluoroanthranilic acids which comprises dissolving a 3-fluorobenzoic alkyl ester in sulfuric acid and reacting the solution with nitrating acid at from -10 to 30.degree.C, then adding water, separating off the nitrated reaction product and reacting it with hydrogen at from 50 to 120.degree.C under elevated pressure in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metal of the platinum group and sulfur. and, if desired, removing 5-fluoroanthranilic alkyl esters by distillation and hydrolyzing them to give 5-fluoro- anthranilic acid.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of glycoloylanilides The pre ent invention relates to a process for the preparation of glycoloylanilides of the formula (G) (G) which involves reacting a nitrobenzene of the formula (A) with hydrogen and, if desired, with a carbonyl compound of the formula (B), in the presence of a catalyst which comprises noble metal and of a solvent, in accordance with reaction equation (1) (1) (A) (B) (C) separating off the catalyst and reacting the compound of the formula (C) with chloroacetyl chloride, in accordance with reaction equation (2) (2) (C) (D) to give a compound of the formula (D), reacting this with a benzyl alcohol of the formula (E), and with a base, in accordance with reaction equation (3) (3) (D) (E) (F) or reacting the compound of the formula (C) with an Obenzylglycoloyl chloride of the formula (R), in accordance with reaction equation (4) (4) (C) (K) (F) and reacting the O-benzylglycoloylanilide of the formula (F), in the presence of a catalyst which comprises noble metal, with hydrogen, in accordance with reaction equation (5) (5) (F) (G) (H) to give the glycoloylanilide of the formula (G). The present invention also relates to new O-benzylglycoloyl-anilides of the formula (F) and to a process for their preparation.

Abstract: of the disclosure 2,3,4-Trifluoro-N-ethylaniline and process for the preparation thereof The present invention relates to the compound 2,3,4-tri-fluoro-N-ethylaniline and to a process for the preparation thereof. 2,3,4-Trifluoro-N-ethylaniline is prepared by reducing 1 mol of 2,3,4-trifluoronitrobenzene with hydrogen in an organic solvent which is inert towards the reactants and under the reaction conditions as diluent in the presence of a modified nickel or noble metal catalyst and a buffer material at temperatures of from about 80.degree.C to about 120.degree.C at pH values of from about 7 to 10 at atmospheric pressure or increased pressure to form 2,3,4-trifluoro-aniline and subsequently subjecting this, through addition of from 1 to about 1.5 mol of acetaldehyde, based on the 2,3,4-trifluoroaniline formed, with or without an inert organic solvent as diluent, to reductive alkylation with hydrogen at temperatures of from about 40.degree.C to about 100.degree.C.
