    Abstract: PURPOSE: To charge a battery in a short time, while supplying load with a sufficient drive current by feedback-controlling an output from a power supply, so as to reach approximately a constant power on the basis of a voltage feedback value and a current feedback value. CONSTITUTION: When the output voltage V(0) of an AC adapter 20 is made higher than the potential V(Z1) of a Zener diode(ZD) 148A, the voltage feedback value of a feedback path which passed through the ZD 148A does not reach zero, and the voltage feedback value and a current feedback value from a current-detecting resistor 114 are added by an adder 150. Accordingly, a feedback path passed through a differential amplifier 120 is worked as an approximately constant power control feedback means, and an output from the AC adapter 20 is controlled, so as to reach approximately a constant power on the basis of both the current feedback value and the voltage feedback value. The AC adapter 20 supplies a system load with a drive current, while feeding a battery with a surplus power at that time.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable a visible indication in a specific charge state by forming a device such that the computer has a processor, the processor monitors battery conditions, and electric signals are generated for indicating them. CONSTITUTION: The electric power administration processor PMP 30 operates to measure an ambient temperature AT, a voltage V of the battery, electric current I and BT respectively by the use of a thermistor 46, a resistor 40 and calculation amplifiers 38-1 to 38-4 connected to the thermistor 42. The PMP 30 selects one from a plurality of discharge tables stored in ROM 24, confirms the charge zone of a battery 11 by using signals I, V, and controls the icon display 52. The fuel icon has three panels, and when the battery 11 is charged completely, all panels become lighted. When electric power is consumed, panels are made off consecutively to indicate conditions of 2/3 charge and 1/3 charge. When consumption further advances, the remained panels flash on and off, and thereafter all panels become off, so that the consumption of the battery 11 is indicated.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a battery pack and a mechanism for connecting the battery pack (40) that provide increased freedom for detachment and removal from an electric/electronic device (10). Since a head (46), wherein a plurality of terminals are so provided inside individual slits as not to be exposed externally, is connected to a battery interface (76) that is a part of a personal computer and that has a plurality of plugs, the terminals of the battery pack are electrically connected to the corresponding plugs. Since all the slits of the head (46) are so formed that each extends fully through the head (46) in the direction of the thickness of the battery pack (40), and so that each is open at the top, at the bottom, and at one side, the head (46) can be connected to the battery interface (76) from the top, from the bottom, or from the side of the battery interface (76).
