    Abstract: Un método para programar paquetes en una red inalámbrica de área local comienza mapeando un paquete a una categoría de acceso (AC) en base a una prioridad de usuario del paquete. Se asigna el paquete a un flujo de tráfico (TF) en una estacion en base a la AC del paquete,. Un paquete del TF se coloca en una cola de transmision para la AC. Se selecciona un paquete de la cola de transmision en base a la funcion de resolucion de contencion basada en la calidad del servicio, y se transmite el paquete seleccionado.

    Abstract: In a wireless local area network having an access point (AP) and at least on e station, wherein data is prioritized by access categories, a method for admission control begins by calculating a transmission budget for each acces s category (AC) and a total transmission budget for all Acs requiring admissio n control. A traffic stream admission request is sent from a station to the AP . A medium time value for the traffic stream is calculated at the AP, based on information extracted from the admission request. The medium time value is compared to the transmission budget for the AC corresponding to the traffic stream and the total transmission budget. The traffic stream is accepted if the medium time value is not greater than both the transmission budget for t he AC corresponding to the traffic stream and the total transmission budget; otherwise, the traffic stream is rejected.

    Abstract: A method is described including deriving, by a wireless device, a first value for each of a plurality of queues. The first value is derived from a second value and a delay between scheduling transmissions for that data queue. The second value is associated with a data rate, and each of the plurality of data queues is associated with a priority. Data is selected by the wireless device from at least one of the priority queues for transmission based on the derived first value. Also described is a wireless device with a plurality of data cues and circuitry configured for each of the plurality of cues to derive the first value and to select data from at least one of the priority queues for transmission based on the derived first value.
