Abstract: A wireless communication system implements wireless communications between a base station and a plurality of User Equipments (UEs) including paging of UE s by initially processing paging indicator information. A first embodiment involves a UE's physical layer L1 being configured for interpreting a paging indicator (PI) to activate a preset decoding configuration to process paging data in a pre-specified paging channel (PCH). A second embodiment involves t he physical layer control of a next higher level, L2, interpreting the paging indicator and configuring the physical layer L1 to process paging data in a pre-specified PCH.

Abstract: Se describe un metodo y aparato para compensar el ruido de fase de simbolos dispersados con un codigo de dispersion largo. Para compensar el ruido de fase, se genera un calculo de error de fase a partir de los simbolos recuperados con un codigo de dispersion corto. Se aplica un fasor de correccion de fase a los datos de velocidad de chip antes de la recuperacion de los datos con un codigo de dispersion largo. Se puede calcular una relacion de senal a interferencia (SIR) en un canal de piloto comun (CPICH) por dispersion de los datos con un codigo de dispersion de origen en un arbol de codigo de factor de dispersion variable ortogonal (OVSF) al combinar simbolos. De manera alternativa, se puede utilizar una magnitud de los simbolos en el calculo de SIR. El SIR de un canal que utiliza un codigo de dispersion corto y un SIR de un canal utilizando un codigo de dispersion largo se miden. El SIR del canal con codigo de dispersion largo se puede compensar de acuerdo con una diferencia entre la degradacion de los SIR.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically correcting the frequency of a local oscillator of a receiver. A primary common pilot channel (CPICH) code sequence is generated by a CPICH code generator based on a reference cell identification signal and a frame start signal. The received despread CPICH code sequence is used to generate an estimated frequency error signal. A control voltage signal is generated by a control voltage generator based on the estimated frequency error signal. The CPICH code generator generates the CPICH code sequence based on signals received from a high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) serving cell when HSDPA is active, or a timing reference cell when HSDPA is not active. The present invention achieves full maximum ratio combining gain when space time transmit diversity (STTD) is used, even without receiving a transmit diversity indication.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for compensating for phase noise of symbols spread with a long spreading code are disclosed. To compensate for the phase noise, a phase error estimate is generated from despread symbols with a short spreading code. A phase correcting phasor is applied to chip rate data before despreading the data with a long spreading code. A signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) on a common pilot channel (CPICH) may be calculated by spreading the data with a parent spreading code in an orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) code tree and by combining symbols. Alternatively, a magnitude of the symbols may be used in estimating the SIR. The SIR of a channel using a short spreading code and an SIR of a channel using a long spreading code are measured. The SIR of the channel with the long spreading code may be compensated in accordance with a difference between degradation of the SIRs.

Abstract: Un metodo y aparato para corregir automaticamente la frecuencia de un oscilador local de un receptor. Se genera una secuencia de codigos de canal piloto comun primario (CPICH) por un generador de codigos de CPICH en base a una senal de identificacion de celda de referencia y una senal de inicio de cuadro. La secuencia de codigo de CPICH no propagada recibida se usa para generar una senal de error de frecuencia estimada. Un generador de voltaje de control en base a la senal de error de frecuencia estimada genera una senal de voltaje de control. El generador de codigo de CPICH genera la secuencia de codigos de CPICH en base a las senales recibidas de una celda de servicio de acceso de paquetes de enlace descendente de alta velocidad (HSDPA) cuando esta inactivo el HSDPA, o una celda de referencia de sincronizacion cuando no esta activo el HSDPA. La presente invencion logra ganancia completa de combinacion de relacion maxima cuando se usa diversidad de transmision de espacio-tiempo (STTD), aun sin recibir una indicacion de diversidad de transmision.
