    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the medium which is suitable for high-density recording and has excellent durability and corrosion resistance by controlling the crystal particle size and form of an org. high polymer having a specific chemical structure and compounding said high polymer with a magnetic metal matrix in molecular order. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium contains >=1 kinds of the arom. org. high polymer having 1,000-1,000,000 or 1,000-5,000,000 weight average mol.wt. at 0.01 or 0.001-10wt.% of the weight of the continuous thin film contg. at least one kind of ferromagnetic metal elements in said thin film. Or the org. high polymer having 1,000-5,000,000 average mol.wt. consists essentially of at least >=1 arom. ring per 500 units mol.wt. and average 1-10 hydroxyl groups and has average 0-4 sulfonic groups or average 0-6 >=1 kinds among the groups of the following polar groups: the polar groups are formulas I-iV, where R is a hydrogen atom or hydrocarbon group; R1-R3 are arom. groups such as straight chain or branched alkyl groups which are the same as or different from each other; X is counter anion.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain particles having narrow particle distribution as possible and keeping uniform shape by elongating a thermoplastic material having stringiness to the fibrous shape, thereafter cutting it and heating the cut fiber to melt it.
    CONSTITUTION: In case of globing the thermoplastic material having stringiness, after firstly melting the above-mentioned material and elongating it to fibrous shape, the global particles are obtained by cutting the fabrous material and furthermore giving heat to the cut material to melt it. In the cutting process, the such method is rational that the long fabrous material obtained out of the preprocess is cut to the suitable length and cut by superposing many pieces of the cut fabrous material. For example, bisphenol-base polyester resin is molded to the fibrous material having about 10μ diameter in cross-section with a melt spinning machine and the fiber is cut to 200μm length with a microtome by bundling many pieces of the fibrous material. The polyester-like particles having same diameter are obtained by hot-air globing thereof.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively prevent deterioration by oxidation of a recording layer by constituting the recording layer in such a manner as to have only one distribution limit of scattering intensity in the prescribed radium range in the radius distribution of the direction parallel with the film plane by a method for electron ray diffraction. CONSTITUTION:The substrate 7 of a recording medium provided with the recording layer having transition metals and rare earth metals on the substrate is set in a position apart from a revolving shaft of a substrate holder 6 and the holder 6 is rotated. Gas, such as Ar, is introduced from a gas introducing system 8 and electric powers are charged to targets 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b to generate the sputters by an electric discharge, by which alternately laminated films are formed on the substrate 7. The films formed in such a manner are so constituted as to have just one distribution max. of the scattering intensity in the radius range of about 1.5 to 4Angstrom in the radius distribution in the direction parallel with the film plane by the method for the electron ray diffraction, etc. The deterioration of the recording layer by oxidation is thus effectively prevented. The recording layer is preferably the alternately laminated films of the transition metals and the rare earth metals.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form the thin film of a silicon compds. at a high film forming rate on a low-temp. substrate by executing DC reactive sputtering with opposed Si targets of a specific low resistivity as a cathode and disposing the substrate perpendicularly to the sputtering plane. CONSTITUTION:A pair of the targets 1, 2 which consist essentially of Si and have permanent magnets 3, 4 on the rear surface are disposed to face each other in a vacuum reaction vessel 10 to be evacuated to a vacuum via a discharge port 11. An electric discharge is induced between anodes 6 and 7 connected with a DC high-voltage power source 20 with the targets 1, 2 as the cathode to generate plasma and to sputter the opposite surfaces of the targets 1, 2. Further, N2 or O2 is introduced together with gaseous Ar from a gas introducing port 12. The thin film of Si3N4, SiO2, etc., is formed on the substrate 5 disposed perpendicularly to the target plane. The Si target of n type or p type having 1X10 to 1X10-5OMEGA.m resistivity is used to form the above- mentioned targets 1, 2. The targets contg. 5.0X10 to 9.0X10 cm P or 10X10 to 1.2X10 cm B is adequate.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain toner powder having unified viscosity and shape by drawing out the molten and kneaded matter of a raw material consisting of a thermoplastic high polymer and inorg. material into an extremely fine fiber shape, fixing preliminarily the biaxial size among the three dimensions, bundling many pieces thereof and cutting short the bundle in the triaxial direction. CONSTITUTION:Bisphenol polyester resin and carbon black are melted and kneaded by a twin-screw extruder and thereafter the mixture is molded into the fiber shape having about 5 micron diameter in the section by a melt spinner. Many pieces of such fibers are bundled and are so cut that the length in microtome attains 90mum. The cut fibers are spheroidized by a hot air spheroidizing device, by which a toner is obtd. The toner is made into a two-component developer and is used for copying of 10,000 sheets with a copying machine. The change in optical density is small and the durability of the toner is excellent as a result of the discrimination made for the optical density of the image planes at every 1,000 sheets thereof.
