Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbing article excellent in deodorizing effect and not leaking an offensive smell of excretion to the outside. SOLUTION: This absorbing article 1 consists of a surface sheet 21, a liquid impermeable leak-proof sheet 22 and a liquid-holdable absorbent 10 and contains a porous deodorant. In this case, the porous deodorant has pores so that the vol. of pores with a pore size or 20-200 Å becomes 0.2 ml or more, pref., 0.6 ml or more per 1 g of the porous deodorant.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method capable of highly selectively detecting functional groups existing on the surfaces of various kinds of materials. SOLUTION: A compound containing elements not existing on a material surface is caused to react with the functional group of the material surface at a normal temperature at a vapor phase selectively, and the material surface after the reaction is elementary analyzed. As the element, hydrogen, especially fluorine or chlorine, is favorable, and as the compound one containing these elements in C1 up to C4 alkyl chains is favorable. An analyzing means is selected properly from ESCA, AES(Auger electron spectroscopy), XMA(X-ray microanalysis), SIMS(secondary ion mass spectrometry), etc., at need, and is combined with reaction.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a correct titration value regardless of temperature variation of liquid by calculating a corrected titration amount at a reference temperature based on the coefficient of volumetric expansion and temperature of titration liquid and then subjected the measurement value to temperature correction based on the corrected titration amount. CONSTITUTION:When correct concentration of a titration liquid at a reference temperature is known and an acid value is measured, for example, the titration liquid is added to a liquid to be measured using a delivery means of which delivery volume is detectable. A titration end-point is then determined based a potential variation ratio, a titration curve, etc., and a titration amount is measured at that moment. A titration amount Vts (ml) corrected for a reference temperature is then calculated from the coefficient of volumetric expansion and temperature of titration liquid according to a formula; Vts=Vt/(1+alphat.(Tt-To) [VT: titration amount (ml), alphat: coefficient of volumetric expansion of titration liquid, Tt: temperature of titration liquid ( deg.C)]. Acid value represents the weight (mg) of KOH required for neutralization of acid components contained in 1g of sample and a corrected acid value is determined according to a formula; acid value (mgKOH/g)=Vts.N.56.108/Ws [N: normality of titration liquid, Ws: sampling amount of sample].

Abstract: PURPOSE:To achieve a rapid analysis without any pre-treatment, etc., of a sample by applying X rays which are turned into monochromatic by spectral crystal to the sample and then determining a small amount of precious metal element by detecting generated characteristic X rays with a semiconductor detector. CONSTITUTION:For example, X rays where the wavelength region of MOKalpha rays is turned into monochromatic are applied to a sample 5 through a slit 1c by an X-ray irradiation means consisting of a molybdenum bulb 1a and lithium fluoride 1b. By detecting the characteristic X rays generated at this time using a semiconductor detector 4, Cu, Zn, As, Se, Au, Hg, Pb, and Bi are determined. Then, WLbeta1 rays are turned into monochromatic by the X-ray irradiation means consisting of a tungsten bulb 2a and lithium fluoride crystal 2b and V, Cr, Co, and Ni are determined in the similar manner. Then, continuous X rays are turned into monochromatic by the X-ray irradiation means consisting of a tungsten bulb 3a and germanium crystal 3b and Mo, Pd, Ag, Cd, In, Sb, and Te are determined in the similar manner.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve stability and durability of a magnetic medium recording device useful for processing information, etc., by constructing a slide contact surface of a slide contact part in a recording device consisting of a magnetic head, etc., from a composition containing glassy carbon and a specific compound. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting polymer is carbonized to provide a glassy carbon material (A), such as polyacrylonitrile based material. One or more are selected from fine metallic oxide particles, fine metallic nitride particles, fine metallic carbide particles and fine metallic boride particles to afford an inorganic compound (B) (e.g. SiC having about 0.06mum particle diameter). The components (A) and (B) are then mixed to provide a composite material (C), which is then subjected to cutting out machining to afford a slide contact part 11. The back surface of a magnetic head 24 of a disk drive consisting of a spindle 22 for rotating a flexible magnetic disk 21 and the magnetic head 24, etc., in the vicinity of the surface of the disk 21 is provided with the slide contact part 11 to improve durability of the resultant magnetic medium record ing device.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a pigment which has excellent resistance to water, solvents, oxidation and light and safety and gives a clear color, by bringing a porous alumina contg. an anion into contact with an org. dye soln. and then sealing pores. CONSTITUTION:A porous alumina contg. 0.1mol/kg or more of an anion is brought into contact with an org. dye soln. to enclose a dye in pores, and the pores contg. the dye are sealed. Any of porous alumina contg. 0.1mol/kg or more of an anion and having pores capable of enclosing an org. dye molecule therein may be used, but one having a specific surface area of 10m /g or above is preferred to enclose the dye molecule therein. As the anion, chloride and sulfate ions are particularly preferred.
