Abstract: A process for producing a polyurethane foam which comprises reacting a polyol ingredient with an isocyanate ingredient in the presence of a catalyst comprising a compound represented by formula (I), (wherein p is an integer of 4 to 8) and a compound having a primary amino group and a tertiary amino group in the molecule, a foaming agent, and a foam stabilizer. The polyurethane foam obtained by the process is suitable for use as a building material, a heat insulation material for electrical refrigerators, cold storages, bathtubs, etc., a material for interior automotive trims, etc.

Abstract: Microcellular polyurethane elastomer shoe sole components having exceptional physical properties may be prepared from isocyanate-terminated prepolymers derived from polyoxypropylene diols having a molecular weight of from about 2000 Da to 8000 Da, an unsaturation less than about 0.02 meq/g, and a random oxyethylene content of from about 5 to about 15 weight percent. The shoe sole components exhibit high tensile strength, elongation, resilience, and in addition have excellent tear strength, particularly 90° angle tear.

ACCORDING TO THE PROCESS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION, A PLOYURETHANE FOAM HAVING EXCELLENT FINAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES SUCH AS TENSILE STRENGTH, WHICH CAN BE SUITABLY USED PARTICULARLY AS A POLYURETHANE FOAM FOR SHOE SOLES, CAN BE OBTAINED WITHOUT THE GENERATION OF PINHOLES OR SHRINKAGES ON THE SURFACE OF THE FORMED ARTICLES.
