    Abstract: An emitter material for a CRT comprises a mixed crystal or a solid solution of at least two kinds of alkaline earth metal carbonate, wherein at least one alkaline earth metal carbonate is dispersed or separated in the mixed crystal or solid solution. The alkaline earth metal carbonate, which is a material for an emitter 4 for the CRT, is coated onto the base metal 3 and thermally decomposed in a vacuum to from an emitter of an alkaline earth metal. This emitter, which is proper for a larger screen size, high brightness and high resolution CRT, can be provided with enough life characteristics even under the operating condition of the emission current density of 2A/cm .

    Abstract: An electron-tube cathode made by forming on the base material an emitter mainly comprising alkaline earth metal oxides prepared by depositing carbonates of alkaline earth metals including at least barium on the base material and pyrolyzing the carbonates in a vacuum, wherein the carbonates comprise a mixture of at least two kinds of alkaline earth metal carbonate crystal grains having different configurations. The cathode is improved in both cut-off variation and emission characteristics and is useful as a cathode of CRTs and a cathode of electron tubes used as electron guns of electron microscopes.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the lowering of emission current at the time of operating a device for a long time, and prolong the lifetime of the device by coating a base with the electronic emitting material formed of particles, which are mainly composed of the oxide of alkaline rare earth group metal and which include zirconium or the like. SOLUTION: A metal base 3 is provided in an opening part of one end of a cylindrical sleeve 2 provided with a built-in heater coil 1, and the base 3 is mainly composed of nickel and the base 3 includes reduction element such as magnesium. The base 3 is coated with the electron emitting material formed of particles of alkaline rare earth group oxide, which includes zirconium or the like. Namely the metal base 3, which is mainly composed of nickel, is coated with the electron emitting material formed of the particles, which include at least one of titanium, zirconium and hafnium. With this structure, lowering of the emission current at the time of operating a device for a long time can be reduced, and lifetime can be prolonged.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a gas electric discharge tube which is stable and has a long life even if its cathode area is reduced. CONSTITUTION:Relating to a gas electric discharge tube, in which tunneling effect electron emission elements each comprising a conductor base 2 and a thin film 3 of dielectric substance covering the surface of the base are used as cathodes 12, 14, electron emission reducing films 13, 15 for slightly reducing emission of electrons in a peripheral area are provided in the peripheral area from which the center area of each cathode is excluded. A discharge current at the end portion of each cathode can then be reduced to a large extent. As a result, the rise of a discharge voltage due to shortage of positive ions is avoided and destruction of the cathodes due to bombardment with high-energy positive ions is avoided.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a negative electrode, of which lifetime is prolonged so as to improve the profitability, by including at least one kind of metal, which is selected from a group of vanadium or the like, with the oxide of alkaline rare earth metal, which includes barium, as an electron emitting material. SOLUTION: A metal base 3 is provided in an opening part of one end of a cylindrical sleeve 2, and the base 3 is mainly composed of nickel, and the base 3 includes a fine quantity of reduction element such as magnesium.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide long lifetime while restricting the lowering of the emission current and the lowering of the cutoff voltage by specifying the melting point of the metal particles of an oxide negative electrode formed by coating a negative electrode substrate mainly composed of Ni with an electron emitting material layer composed of the mixture of the alkaline earth metal oxide and the metal particles except for Au. SOLUTION: Melting point of the metal particles of a coated oxide negative electrode is set at 750 deg.C or higher under 1 normal atmosphere, desirably at 900-1200 deg.C. As a metal particle, Cu, Ge or Ag is desirably used. The oxide negative electrode is formed of a heater coil 1, a cylindrical sleeve 2, in which the heater coil 1 is provided, a substrate 3 provided at an opening part of one end of the sleeve 2 and including a fine quantity of Mg, and an electron emitting material layer 4 composed of the alkaline earth metal oxide 5 coated on the substrate 3 and the metal particles 6 except for the alkaline metal oxide. The metal particles added to the electron emitting material layer 4 improves the electrical conductivity of the electron emitting material layer 4, and has the work for maintaining the emission current.
