Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a semirigid polyurethane foam for absorbing lateral clash which has high hardness, excellent touch, and low-temp. properties and is reduced in weight by adding water and a specific lower saturated resin acid in specific amounts as foaming agents to a polyol. CONSTITUTION: The foam is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate, a polyol, and other ingredients including a foaming agent which comprises, per 100 pts.wt. the polyol, 1.2-2.0 pts.wt. water and 0.5-1.8 pts.wt. compound represented by the formula, R-COOH (wherein R is H or Cn H2n+1 , where n is an integer of 1-7). The polyol is a polyether polyol having a functionality of 2-8 and a hydroxyl value of 24-55mgKOH/g. Although known polyisocyanates may be used, a polymethylene polyphenyl isocyanate or the like is preferred. The compound represented by R-COOH is preferably formic acid. An amine catalyst (e.g. triethylenediamine) is preferably used in an amount of 0.25-1.00 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. the polyol.

The resin component comprises a polyol containing 5-80 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the whole amount of polyols) of an amine-based polyetherpolyol using a compound of the formula (R1 -R3 are 1-3C lower alkyl, alkenyl; n is 0-3) as an amine base material and having a mol.wt. of 1500-12000, 1-30 pts.wt. of a polyetheramine having the primary or secondary amino group at the molecular end and having a mol.wt. of 1500-12000, water and other auxiliaries.

CONSTITUTION:A mixture essentially consisting of a polyisocyanate component comprising polymethylene polyphenyl isocyanate containing at least 60wt.% at least trinuclear components, the so-called polynuclear components, a polyol component comprising a polyol prepared by the addition reaction of an active hydrogen compound having an average functionality of 2-4 with both propylene oxide and ethylene oxide and having a hydroxyl value of 24-55mgKOH/g and an ethylene oxide content of 10-20wt.% and a terminal hydroxyl content of 70-90mol% or a polymer polyol prepared by grafting an ethylenically unsaturated monomer onto this polyol and a blowing agent comprising water and optionally containing a crosslinking agent, a catalyst, a foam stabilizer and other adjuvants is reacted to obtain a molding having a density of 0.4-0.8g/cm .

Abstract: PURPOSE: To economically obtain a foam, useful as interior material such as instrumental-panel, upper part of a door-trim, arm-rest and head-rest, etc., of automobiles with minimized defective molding by incorporating a specific amount of a specific cross-linking agent. CONSTITUTION: The foam is obtained by mixing (A) a polyisocyanate such as polymethylene-polyphenylisocyanate, (B) a polyol such as polyether-polyol, (C) water (D) a foam stabilizer, catalyst or other additives, and (E) a crosslinking agent obtained from starting compounds expressed by the formula; (n=2, 3) and the OH value ranging from 500 to 1500mgKOH/g where the amount of (E) is 0.3-1.5 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of (B). The compound of the formula is optimally diethylenetriamine.

CONSTITUTION:The objective semirigid polyurethane foam is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate with a polyol, water and other assistants in the presence of 0.5-2.0 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. polyol, at least one compound selected from among those of formula I (wherein R1 is 1-3C alkyl or alkenyl; and R2 is H, 1-3C alkyl or alkenyl) and those of formula II (wherein X is OH, COOH or NH2; R3 is 1-6C alkylene or oxyalkylene; (m) is 0 or 1-3; and (n) is 1-3). This foam has improved adhesion to a modified PPO resin as a core material and can give a lightweight integrated three-layer interior decorating material when combined with a thin-wall modified PPO resin material as a core and a flexible polyvinyl chloride as a skinning material.

CONSTITUTION:The title process is one for producing a semirigid polyurethane foam by reacting a resin component comprising a polyol component and assistants such as water, an amine catalyst and a foam stabilizer with an aromatic polyisocyanate (prepolymer). The polyol component contains 70-100wt.%, based on the total polyol component, polyol obtained by reacting a compound containing 2-4 hydroxyl groups with propylene oxide and ethylene oxide, having a hydroxyl value of 20-35mgKOH/g, a content of terminal prim. hydroxyl groups of at least 70wt.%, based on all the hydroxyl groups and a content of ethylene oxide of 10-30wt.%, based on the total amount of both oxides and containing both a random copolymer part comprising both oxides and an ethylene oxide block part.
