    Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce an integral-skin polyurethane foam which cures in a short time without causing swelling on demolding by pouring a reaction mixture contg. an arom. polyisocyanate, a high-molecular isocyanate-reactive compd., and a specific blowing agent into a mold and allowing the mixture to foam to a specified density. CONSTITUTION: A reaction mixture is prepd. by mixing an arom. polyisocyanate, a high-molecular isocyanate-reactive compd., and a blowing agent comprising a tert. amine (e.g. 1-isobutyl-2-methylimidazole) salt of an acid selected from among phosphoric acid and its derivatives having a mol.wt. of 98-1,150, boric acid and its esters having a mol.wt. of 61-146, and aliph. carboxylic acids having a mol.wt. of 46-300, and if necessary a crosslinker, a catalyst, another blowing agent, a foam stabilizer, and other additives. The mixture is poured into a mold and allowed to foam, giving an integral-skin polyurethane foam having a density of 0.3-0.8g/cm .

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition excellent in heat resistance, moldability, mechanical strengths, etc., by mixing a polyimide resin comprising repeating units represented by a specified formula and aromatic polyamide fibers. CONSTITUTION:This composition is a polyimide resin composition comprising 100 pts.wt. polyimide resin comprising repeating units repre by the formula (wherein Y is a 1-10 C bivalent hydrocarbon, hexafluoroisopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, sulfinyl or oxide; and R is a tetravalent group selected from the group consisting of a 2C or higher aliphatic group, a cycloaliphatic group, a monocyclic aromatic group, a fused polycyclic aromatic group and a nonfused cyclic aromatic group composed of aromatic groups bonded to each other directly or through bridging members) and 5-100 pts.wt. aromatic polyamide fibers. Thin composition is a material having excellent moldability and mechanical strengths as well as heat resistance and being useful for electrical and electronic components, automotive components, precision machinery components, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic polyamide resin having excellent heat resistance and processability and capable of being melt molded by thje polycondensation of a specific diamine and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent. CONSTITUTION:Bis[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl] sulfone and/or bis[4-(3- aminophenoxy)phenyl]sulfone of formula I, as a diamine component, and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide (e.g. terephthaloyl chloride) are subjected to polycondensation reaction at 60 deg.C or lower in an organic solvent in the presence of a dehydrohalogenation agent (e.g. triethylamine). Thus, an aromatic polyamide of formula II[wherein X is an aromatic group having fused rings or formula III (wherein Y is a direct bond, O, S, SO2, etc.; R is 1-4C alkyl, alkoxy, etc.; a is 0, 1 or 2 and b is 0 or 1-4); and n is 1-1000] is obtained. The obtained aromatic polyamide is useful as a raw material for spacecraft and aircraft equipment and fibers with a high heat resistance.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To rationalize the manufacturing process and suppress the side reaction to thereby obtain high-quality polyethersulfone by using 1,3-dimethyl-2- imidazolidinone as polymerization solvent in the polycondensation of a bisphenol having a specified structure and 4,4'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone. CONSTITUTION:A polyethersulfone is produced by the polycondensation of a bisphenol of formula I (wherein Y is a direct linkage, -SO2-, -C/(CH2)2-or-O-) and 4-4'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone of formula II, by using 1,3-dimethyl-2- imidazolidinone of formula III as the polymerization solvent.
