Abstract: A pressure transmitter with a fluid isolator that includes a sensor tube and a fill tube that have "D" shaped ends that connect together in a port internal to the transmitter. The shaped ends can be brazed into the port for sealing. Fitting both the sensor tube and the fill tube in the same port provides a low cost isolator with reduced isolator liquid volume. The fluid isolator has an isolator diaphragm with a central diaphragm region overlying a central backing plate that includes a annular groove. The annular groove avoids slow response of the isolator after an overpressure condition.

First differential pressure transmitter uses a process barrier (71) and an elongated member as a sensor (70A, B). Second differential pressure transmitter uses single crystal structures with stress isolation members as sensors (70A, B). Basically thick slab cavity capacitance sapphire sensors are directly exposed to a process fluid. Slab: 15x3x2 cubic mm, cavity cross section: 1mm x 0.5 micro m, capacitance: 42 pF.

Abstract: A metal thin film bonds a semiconductor bonding region of a diaphragm layer to a ceramic bonding region of a high modulus support block. The arrangement isolates a pressure sensing diaphragm from undesired strain, improving sensor accuracy. A passageway through the support block couples the fluid pressure to the sensing diaphragm to deflect it. Capacitive coupling between the diaphragm and a capacitor plate on the support block sense the deflection and provide an output representative of pressure.
