    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spectrophotometer in which a sample can be set easily to a measuring position on an integrating sphere. SOLUTION: A spectrophotometer having an integrating sphere 3 in a measuring section is provided with a sample holder 5 which is formed in such a way that a sample S can be held between two platy members which are coupled with each other at one ends with spring hinges, etc., in an openable state. The sample holder 5 is constituted so that the holder 5 may be attached to and detached from the measuring window 4 of the sphere 3. Therefore, samples having various shapes and thicknesses can be set easily on the outside of the device where no restriction is posed on the space.

SOLUTION: The temperature regulating sample holder comprises a supporting member on the fixed side provided with a constant temperature water circulation channel, a supporting member 3 fixed movably or removable to the supporting member and provided with a constant temperature water circulation channel, and fixing members 3a, 3b and 2e for pressing both supporting members to support a sample between them. Since the sample is applied tightly to the constant temperature supporting members at least on two sides thereof, temperature difference is reduced between the sample and the supporting members 2, 3 and the sample can be subjected to more accurate temperature control.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure an easy-to-handle and accurate measurement in using a sample lighting source by focusing an image at a specified position of an optical system in a spectrophotometer on a specified position of a sample measurement base. SOLUTION: A relay lens 35 focuses an image at a diffraction grating of a spectrophotometer 1 or at a sample position on a surface of a diaphragm 31. A troidal mirror 34 focuses the image at the diaphragm 37 on a sample S on a cryostat. A relay lens 36 effectively leads the light passing through the lens 35 to the mirror 34 by forming the image at the lens 5 on the mirror 34. The mirror 34 is adapted to be adjusted finely in its direction and to adjust an irradiation position on the sample S. Accordingly, the excellent characteristics of spectrophotometer as a single color optical source can be used not only for only the fine measurement of light absorption as well as light transmission of sample but also for the measurement of non-optical physical light irradiation effect, thereby increasing the use of the specrophotometer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately discriminate the truth or falsehood of a jewel set on a ring by measuring the light transmitted through the jewel after the light is again returned to an integrating sphere from the jewel. CONSTITUTION:A sample jewel 3 is set on the mount of a ring 3A an,the mount has a hole 3B. A groove-like recessed section is formed on part of the side face of a reflecting member 4 which is used for setting the jewel 3 and has the shape of a frustum of circular cone and the bottom of the recessed section is formed to a reflecting surface 4A. When the jewel 3 is faced to the light emitting window 1B of an integrating sphere and light is emitted through the incident window 1A of the sphere 1 from a light source, the light transmitted through the window 1A irradiates the jewel 3 after passing through the window 1B. The light which is again made incident to the sphere l after the light is reflected by the surface of the jewel 3, the light which is again made incident to the sphere after the light is reflected inside the jewel 3 and again transmitted through the jewel 3, and the light which is again made incident to the sphere 1 after the light is transmitted through the jewel 3, passed through the hole 3B of the mount, and reflected by the recessed surface of the member 4 are integrated in the sphere 1 and detected by means of a detector 2. Therefore, the truth or falsehood of the sample jewel 3 can be accurately discriminated.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform various kinds of measurements with one apparatus by providing a light measuring device on the extending line of the incident luminous flux into a specimen so that the device can be replaced in addition to photodetectors which are attached on a detecting stage. CONSTITUTION:Either of photodetector 3 or 4 is selected. A detecting stage 2 is rotated. The photodetector is positioned on the extending line of an optical axis A on the side of the transmitting side of a specimen. The relationship between a rotary angle theta and the output of the photodetector at this position is obtained. When the opacity of the similar specimen is measured, the detecting stage 2 is turned so that both photodetectors 3 and 4 are deviated from the optical axis A and so that the light transmitted through the specimen is inputted into an integrating sphere 7. Then, the specimen is provided on the light inputting window of the integrating sphere 7 with a specimen holder 91 that is provided at a holding stage 9. A photodetector 8 is selected with a detector-switch selecting mechanism 12. Thus the light transmitted through the specimen is measured. A light emitting window 71 at the rear side of the integrating sphere 7 is opened, and the opacity is measured. Then, the light obtained by subtracting the direct transmitted light from the light transmitted through the specimen is measured. When the window 71 is covered with a white plate, the total transmitted light including the diffused light and the direct transmitted light can be measured. The difference between both measured values is divided by the later measured value, and the clouding degree is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simultaneously connect two kinds of externally fitted adaptors to a sample chamber and to properly use both of them arbitrarily without detaching and replacing the same one by one by respectively providing windows leading out the light emitted from a spectroscope to the front and rear surfaces of the sample chamber and providing the externally fitted adaptors to the sample chamber in a freely detachable manner. CONSTITUTION:Two windows W1, W2 for respectively taking out control luminous flux and sample luminous flux, pins P1, P2 being the positioning means of externally fitted adaptors and screw holes T1, T2 for fixing the externally fitted adaptors are respectively provided to the front surface (f) and rear surface (b) of a sample chamber C and the externally fitted adaptors can be respectively mounted to both front and rear surfaces of the sample chamber C. By this method, measurement can be performed using two kinds of the externally fitted adaptors without detaching and replacing both adaptors one by one and the switching operation to the various methods to use of a spectrophotometer M is simplified to a large extent.
