    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve rigidity, low-temp. impact resistance, and coating adherence by mixing a PP resin with a PP resin modified with an unsaturated hydroxy compound, a thermoplastic elastomer, a (hydrogenated) diene polymer, and a specific copolymer. CONSTITUTION:20-80wt.% PP resin (A) having an MFR of 0.3-100g/10-min (230 deg.C) is mixed with 0-60wt.% modified PP resin obtained by mixing 100 pts.wt. PP resin which is the same as the ingredient (A) with 0.1-50 pts.wt. unsaturated hydroxy compound and 0.01-20 pts.wt. organic peroxide having a 1-min half-life temp. of 100 deg.C or higher and heating the mixture to 160-300 deg.C, 5-40wt.% thermoplastic elastomer, 0.1-10wt.% hydroxy-terminated (hydrogenated) diene polymer having a number-average mol.wt. of 300-100,000, and 3-40wt.% copolymer of ethylene with a compound having an OH group bonded to a carbon atom not having a polymerizable unsaturated bond. This mixture is kneaded at 180-280 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition having high refractive index and excellent heat resistance, etc., and useful as a coating material, paint, etc., by compounding a specific compound, other vinyl monomer copolymerizable with said compound and a polythiol as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by compounding (A) a 4,4'-bis[omega-(meth)acryloyl(polyoxyalkylene)thio]diphenyl sulfide compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are H or methyl; (m) and (n) are 1-5), (B) other vinyl monomer copolymerizable with the compound of formula I [e.g. styrene or methyl (meth)acrylate] and (C) a polythiol of formula II (R is polyvalent organic group; (n) is >=2) and, as necessary, (d) a filler, a dye, etc. The amount of the component B in the components A+B+C is 10-90% and the equivalent ratio of the mercapto functional group of the component C is 0.001-1.01 based on the sum of the (meth)acryloyl group of the component A and the vinyl group of the component B.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the plastic lens high in refractive index, low in water absorptivity, and superior in scratch resistance and reflection preventive effect by successively forming an acrylic primer layer, a silicone hard coat layer, and a reflection preventive layer made of an inorganic compound on the surface of the plastic lens obtained by polymerizing a hardenable composition comprising a prepolymer having a polythioether structure and another monomer. CONSTITUTION:The plastic lens to be used is prepared by polymerizing the hardenable composition comprising the prepolymer having the polythioether structure obtained by additionally reacting 4,4'-(methacryloylthio)diphenylsulfide (A) represented by formula I to polythioether (B) represented by formula II, and the other monomer. This plastic lens is coated successively with the acrylic type primer layer of 0.1-3.0mum film thickness, the silicone hard coat layer of 0.5-6.0mum made of the hydrolyzate or the partially condensate of an organosilicon compound represented by formula III, and the reflection preventive layer made of an inorganic compound.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To allow uniform and stable dyeing with good color tones without unequalness by previously treating the surface of a plastic lens with an org. solvent soln. of a phenolic compd. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the plastic lens is previously treated with the org. solvent soln. of a phenolic compd. at the time of immersing the plastic lens in an aq. disperse type dye soln. to dye the plastic lens. The phenolic resin to be used for the purpose of the treatment is not particularly limited insofar as the compd. does not attack the surface of the plastic lens; more specifically, phenol, o-methoxyphenol, o-cresol, quinazarine, etc., are exemplified. The uniform and stable dyeing with the good color tones without the unequalness is thus executed at a desired dyeing speed without impairing the characteristics intrinsic to the plastic lens.

Furthermore, the monomer expressed by formula I is obtained by dissolving a dithiol expressed by formula II in an alkaline aqueous solution, etc., and reacting methacryloyl chloride therewith.
