Abstract: PURPOSE: To quicken the tracking to an object by setting a smaller servo coefficient when zooming is set to the telescopic position and setting a larger servo coefficient when zooming is set to the wide position. CONSTITUTION: An output of a tracking controller 14 is fed to a zoom motor 8 via a driver 17. When the zoom motor 8 is used to vary zooming position, a gain of a tracking control loop is changed accordingly. That is, when zooming is closer to the telescopic position, a smaller servo coefficient is set and when zooming is closer to the wide position, a larger servo coefficient is set. Thus, when zooming is set closer to the telescopic position, the control is sensitive with respect to the motion of the object and unstable control is prevented, and when zooming is set closer to the wide position, the tracking to the object is quickened so as to allow the object to set in the middle of the screen quickly and so as to prevent the object from being disappeared from the screen.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a panorama image without the sense of incongruity, with respect to variations in the image photographic condition, or the like.
SOLUTION: A video signal from an imaging apparatus 10 as an imaging means is supplied to a video capture board 31 of a computer unit 30. At a lens block section 11, a magnification lens is driven by a driving instruction from a camera controller 41. The imaging apparatus 10 is installed on a turning universal head 50 and driven in respective directions in accordance by a driving instruction from a pan/tilt controller 43. A mode controller 42 controls the imaging apparatus 10 and the rotating universal head 50 in response to an absolute position driving request from the computer unit 30. The computer unit 30 comprises a storage device 32, an image processing device 33 and a control device 34, video signals for forming a panorama image are processed and controlled by these devices; and when the video signals are stored in the storage device 32, various imaging conditions, such as imaging time, exposure, white balance are stored additionally.

With a mouse 8, the operation area 6A or 6B is operated to select an object. The computer 1 obtains data for driving the pan tilter 28. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 10 changes the imaging angle of view by driving a lens 16 for variable magnification and regulates a zoom motor 17 by rotating it in response to a drive instruction of a camera controller 2. The imaging apparatus 10 is arranged on a rotary universal head 4 having degree of freedom in the rotational direction of two axes of pan and tilt, and adjusts the imaging direction of the imaging apparatus 10 by rotating a pan motor 5 and a tilt motor 6 in response to a drive instruction of a pan/tilter controller 3. Command of adjustment is transmitted from a computer 30 through a communication line, e.g. RS232C, to a mode controller 1, and to the camera controller 2 and the pan/tilter controller 3. A photographed image and a panorama image are displayed on a monitor 21 and an operator designates a photography angle of view while viewing them.

Then corresponding control commands are transmitted sequentially in the operation in this order and the display color of the button corresponding to the control command whose execution is finished is restored to the original display color.

When the zoom lens is driven and a wide angle mode is set, the drive permission range able to drive the lens block 1 in a way that a mis-recognition object 22 is not within a field angle is expressed by the angle θ2 . Whether or not an angle between the optical axis and a line segment AB is within a drive inhibit range is discriminated and the driver is controlled so as not to make image pickup within the drive inhibit range thereby preventing mis-recognition in advance.

Succeedingly a lens barrel attitude controller 15 uses a drive means to adjust the angle of the lens barrel 11 on the position deviation and the shake.
