    Abstract: A guide information providing system including terminal 1 and server 2 devices. The terminal device comprises a specified location acceptance unit to accept input of a specified location and a display unit to display information. The server device comprises a storing unit to store guide information, including time information and optionally genre information, and position information, of an object of guiding. An information selecting unit is provided to select guide information correlated with position information indicating a position corresponding to the specified location based on the content of specified location information, whereby the guide information is classified by position, and whereby the selected guide information satisfies a time condition with at least the current time-of-day and thereafter as a reference. A display control unit in the terminal device is configured to control the display unit to provide the guide information selected by the information selecting unit, and position information correlated with the guide information thereof, to a user in a predetermined display format. The expected arrival time may also be used as a reference for the time condition used for selecting guide information.

    Abstract: An image pickup apparatus 1 comprises an image pickup section 3 incorporating a pickup sensor, such as a CCD or CMOS sensor. Upon receipt of a user input such as camera shutter operation via input section 7, the apparatus records a plurality of images to temporary memory section 12 during the shutter operation period. Acceleration sensor 8 detects movement of the apparatus and the system controller 12 is able to determine the time at which apparatus movement is minimal. The controller is then able to select one of the plurality of images stored in temporary memory section 12 that most closely corresponds to minimal apparatus movement. The selected image is stored in storage section 9. If an image is not selected due to excessive detected movement, a warning may be output to the user, for example via sound-output section (ie speaker) 10. The apparatus aids the user to record an optimal image with minimized camera-shake resulting from unintentional movement of the apparatus.
