Abstract:
To provide an apparatus and method for realizing an improved content preview process in a content using mechanism based on content usage-right information. A client obtains default usage-right information (Default Usage Right) when it is registered to a license server, and determines, based on the default usage-right information, whether or not the content can be played back in a content preview process without purchasing the content. The client which is permitted to preview the content is limited to a client which has been registered to the license server to obtain the default usage-right information. This prevents preview-data from being randomly distributed.
Abstract:
To provide an information recording medium and an information processing apparatus and method in which the content usage by ensuring copyright protection can be implemented both in CD players and information processing apparatuses, for example, PCs. A license providing condition for a client can be dynamically set based on the content usage status of the client. For example, for clients having a large number of content usages, the license price is decreased, or the license can be provided free. A media ID stored in, for example, a CD, and a product ID as an identifier in, for example, a title unit or an album unit are received from the client. Based on such identification data, the content usage status data can be checked. Accordingly, the licenses can be provided under the reliable management of the content usage.
Abstract:
There are provided an information recording medium, an information processing device, and method realizing user-friendliness in the content use according to a license and copyright protection. The information recording medium stores an encrypted content file containing an encrypted content, encrypted content use right information, and encryption key information required in decryption processing of the encrypted content. Accordingly, a user can acquire from the information recording medium not only the content but also the license (use right information) and the key information required for decryption of the content without performing connection to a license provider for acquiring a license (use right). Consequently, when using a content, there is no need of performing license (use right) acquisition processing from the license provider. This improves the user-friendliness and guarantees the content use right management based on the license.
