An information processing device and method, a recording medium, and a program for providing the latest function to a plurality of applications. A PC (1) reads a UD information file (14) containing the function generation information on a setup program (13) out of a loaded optical disk (3), acquires a UD information file (16) containing the function generation information on a setup program (15) stored in a server (4) over a network (2), compares the function generation information in the UD information file (14) in the optical disk (3), that in the UD information file (16) in the server (4), and that in a UD information registry (12), and updates an application program (11) and the UD information registry (12) by using the setup program corresponding to the latest function generation. The invention can be applied to an information providing system for providing a music contents distribution service having a copyright management function over a network.
Abstract:
To provide an information recording medium and an information processing apparatus and method in which the content usage by ensuring copyright protection can be implemented both in CD players and information processing apparatuses, for example, PCs. A license providing condition for a client can be dynamically set based on the content usage status of the client. For example, for clients having a large number of content usages, the license price is decreased, or the license can be provided free. A media ID stored in, for example, a CD, and a product ID as an identifier in, for example, a title unit or an album unit are received from the client. Based on such identification data, the content usage status data can be checked. Accordingly, the licenses can be provided under the reliable management of the content usage.

It is possible to easily search necessary information from various information. Information on the music data performance position is registered. Music data such as audio data and MIDI data is played and during the performance, registration instruction is performed via a keyboard. Information is registered for the performance position corresponding to the timing when the registration instruction is performed. When searching information, the music data having the information registered is played and search instruction is performed via the keyboard or the like when the performance position containing desired information is reached. According to this instruction, the information registered at this performance position is searched and the information can be accessed. Since information is registered for the performance position of the music data, it is possible to easily and intuitively perform information registration and search. Moreover, since information is searched by the sound, there is no need of watching the screen.

There are provided an information recording medium, an information processing device, and an information processing method capable of using a content while protecting the copyright in both of a CD player and an information processing device such as a PC. The information recording medium has a first data storage region which has been subjected to the copy prevention processing and a second data storage region containing an encrypted content file including an encrypted content and encrypted key data which has been obtained by encrypting key data applied for decoding and can be decrypted only by a device having a license. Reproduction of the content recorded in the first data recording field can be performed in a reproduction device such as a CD player and decryption/reproduction of the encrypted content in the second data recording field can be performed in an information processing device such as a PC if a license can be acquired.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device that reduces mis-operations which can be caused by executing a function allocated to an object not intended by a user.SOLUTION: An MCU as a reproducing device validates an enter input from a mouse operation part after moving a cursor pointer to the position which indicates a destination object for focus movement by a cursor key operation part if an enter input from the mouse operation part is detected within a predefined time from the latest focus moving operation by the cursor key operation part. The MCU validates an enter input from the cursor key operation part after moving the focus to the object indicated by the latest cursor pointer moving destination with the mouse operation part, if the enter input from the cursor key operation part is detected within a predefined time from the latest moving operation of the cursor pointer by the mouse operation part.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and an information processing method capable of facilitating operation for setting a remote control of an AV apparatus coupled to the information processor.SOLUTION: A reproduction device 100 of an information processor 1 stores a plural pieces of model identification information each identifying a model of connectable AV apparatus 200, supplies the connected AV apparatus 200 with display information for a model selection screen, and transmits the model identification information corresponding to the selected model to a remote controller 300. The remote controller 300 of the information processor 1 is capable of transmitting a radio signal for controlling the AV apparatus 200 responding to a key operation, stores a list of control codes assigned to a key for a model indicated by each of the plural pieces of model identification information stored in the reproduction device 100, and reads out the list of the control codes corresponding to the model indicated by the model identification information received from the reproduction device 100 to assign to each key.
