A communication function (225) controls the condition of use of the content and the reception of content information transmitted from the PDA. A content managing function (222) updates the condition of use and content information both held by the content managing function (222) according to the received condition of use and content information. Thus a desired content is quickly sought.

A control apparatus comprising a processor, a memory, and a communication circuit configured to communicate with an input apparatus is provided. The memory device stores instructions which when executed by the processor, causes the processor to receive displacement information from the input apparatus, and at least one of: (i) generate a displacement value for displacing an operation target on a display based on the displacement information, wherein a first set of instructions is used to calculate the displacement value if the displacement information is within a predetermined range, and a second set of instructions is used to calculate the displacement value if the displacement information is outside the predetermined range; and (ii) transmit a feedback signal to the input apparatus at a timing based on the displacement information, wherein the timing is calculated differently if the displacement information is within the predetermined range than if the displacement information is outside the predetermined range.

There is provided a control method, including: outputting a displacement value depending on a displacement amount of an input device in a case where operation is input in the input device, the operation being for a control target displayed on a display apparatus, the position of the display apparatus being specified by a first coordinate system, the position of the input device being specified by a second coordinate system; calculating a displacement amount of the input device in the second coordinate system based on the displacement value; and displaying the control target, the control target being moved to a position corresponding to a displacement amount in the first coordinate system by using a transformation matrix, the transformation matrix transforming a displacement amount of the input device in the second coordinate system into a displacement amount in the first coordinate system.

Disclosed is a data communication system capable of allowing user to selectively receive only the actually required contents data even when the amount of broadcast data significantly and excessively increases. The data communication system comprises: a transmitting apparatus 1 incorporating a contents data generating means for generating a contents data; a plurality of portable terminal apparatuses 3; a pair of data selecting and receiving means 40 and 41 respectively enabling at least one of the plural portable terminal apparatuses to selectively receive a contents data transmitted from the transmitting apparatus 1; a received data processing means 49 for processing the contents data received by the data selecting and receiving means; a profile ID linking means 24 for causing a specific profile ID to be linked with a received contents data by way of generating the profile ID corresponding to a profile related to the contents data and/or transmission and reception of the contents data; and a data receiving device 35 which is interchangeably built in at least one of the plural portable terminal apparatuses 3, wherein the data receiving device 35 incorporates a received profile ID memory means for storing profile ID data including such a receivable profile ID, and yet, the data selecting and receiving means selectively receives a proper contents data based on the corresponding profile ID.

A communication system for guaranteeing only one each of two processing operations, correlated with each other and executed on different devices. A server has a unit which, on receipt of a first processing request, with identification information, executes this processing only once for one item of the identification, and a unit for transmitting a first processing completion notice to the transmission source of the processing request on completion of the first processing or on re-receipt of the processing request for the first processing with the same identification of the completed first processing. The client has a server, a unit for transmitting the processing request for first processing with identification information, a unit for executing a second processing, previously correlated with the first processing, on receipt of the completion notice, and a unit for re-transmitting a processing request on detection of an error before receipt of a transmitted completion notice.

Abstract:
To provide an apparatus and method for realizing an improved content preview process in a content using mechanism based on content usage-right information. A client obtains default usage-right information (Default Usage Right) when it is registered to a license server, and determines, based on the default usage-right information, whether or not the content can be played back in a content preview process without purchasing the content. The client which is permitted to preview the content is limited to a client which has been registered to the license server to obtain the default usage-right information. This prevents preview-data from being randomly distributed.
