An EMD registering server (3) receives from a personal computer (1) a transmission request to transmit data displayed on a screen for inputting th e profile of the user along with the MGID and APID specifying the personal computer (1), then selects data recorded in correlation with the APID based on the received APID, and transmits the selected data to the personal computer (1). The EMD registration server (3) receives the profile of the user inputt ed according to data from the personal computer and records the profile of the user in correlation with the MGID.

On receiving from a personal computer (1) a request for transmitting data for displaying a picture for inputting a user's profile in association with an MGID and an APID for specifying the personal computer (1), an EMD registration server (3) selects data recorded in correspondence to the APID based on the received APID and transmits the selected data to the personal computer (1). Sub-trees separated according to the data processing capability of a device are defined in a key tree in which keys are assigned to the roots, nodes, an d leaves which are devices of a tree. A management entity of each sub-tree creates a sub make-effective key block effective in the entity. A key issuin g center creates a make-effective key block decodable only by an entity having common capability according to the capability information on the entity. Eac h entity manages the partia trees (sub-trees) of the key tree, creates a sub make-effective key block according to only the nodes of the sub-trees or the keys corresponding to the leaves, and creates a make-effective key block decodable only by the selected entity by using the sub make-effective key block. Thus, a make-effective key block can be created in accordance with th e data processing capability of a device and distributed, and the key tree hierarchical structure can be dividedly managed.

There are provided an information recording medium, an information processing device, and an information processing method capable of using a content while protecting the copyright in both of a CD player and an information processing device such as a PC. The information recording medium has a first data storage region which has been subjected to the copy prevention processing and a second data storage region containing an encrypted content file including an encrypted content and encrypted key data which has been obtained by encrypting key data applied for decoding and can be decrypted only by a device having a license. Reproduction of the content recorded in the first data recording field can be performed in a reproduction device such as a CD player and decryption/reproduction of the encrypted content in the second data recording field can be performed in an information processing device such as a PC if a license can be acquired.
