    Abstract: A magnetic disk apparatus suitable for use as a hard disk apparatus in a computer system. The apparatus includes a disk-like medium having a magnetic film formed on a surface, which information is recorded on or reproduced from; and magnetic heads (20 - 31) for recording on or reproducing from the information the disk-like medium. The disk-like medium has data recording regions (20 - 41D) and control signal recording regions (20 - 40), (20 - 41H). In the data recording regions, data tracks are raised and adjacent data tracks are separated by recessing guard bands (20 - 20). In the control signal recording region, on the other hand, tracking marks (20 - 12), (20 - 13) for tracking control of the magnetic heads, track number marks (20 - 71) for stipulating the tracks , track numbers (20 - 41b1), (20 - 41b2) and clock marks (20 - 11) for equidistantly dividing a circumference are formed in projections and recesses along the paths (21 - 21) of the magnetic heads. In this apparatus, the guard band is recessed with respect to the track. Accordingly, the guard band needs not be expanded so as to reduce cross-talk, and a recording capacity can be increased by reducing the track pitch. Because the tracking mark and the track number mark or the clock mark are formed in projections and recesses along the paths of the magnetic heads, accurate access becomes possible even when the track pitch is reduced.

Peak values of the regenerative waveforms of the individual wobble pits are added up and supplied to a divider 30 by a wobble peak calculator 31. A changeover switch 32 is controlled to be changed by a processor 36 so that the VCO 35 is driven by the phase error detecting data processed in the above division at the time of seek, etc.

The reproducing head always crosses the clock marks Mc even if the reproducing head crosses a servo region Zs at a high speed at the time of seeking of the reproducing head and, therefore, the reproduced signal of good S/N is obtd. and the stable lock state of a PLL circuit is maintained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To discriminate directivity and to obtain a stable speed signal, by recording servo signals with phase difference of 90 deg. with each other on two disk planes A and B, and using position signals with two phases. CONSTITUTION:The disk plane 1A on one side of a magnetic disk is divided into sectors in a radial shape, and data recording areas D1a-D3a and servo signal storage areas S1a-S3a are provided on each sector. Also, on the plane 1B on the other side, those areas are provided responding to the plane 1A, and a try bit signal is used as a servo signal to be recorded on the disk planes 1A and 1B, and a servo track is shifted by 1/2 pitch. Two disks formed in such way are used, and recording/reproducing heads 3A and 3B are abutted with both planes of the disk 1, and heads 4A and 4B with both planes of the disk 2, and the position signals of two phases are found at a position signal formation circuit 11, then, they are supplied to a speed signal formation circuit 12. Afterwards, the circuit 12 also generates the speed signals of two phases by differentiating the position signal, and stabilizes the directivity by the signals.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform quick shift of a head by providing the reference servo tracks to plural divided information areas in response to synchronism of the output signal of a head position detecting means to store the off-track value and shifting the servo tracks for matching by an amount equal to the head shift value after positioning in case of head shifting. CONSTITUTION:A microprocessor 8 changes over a switch 13 with application of a power supply and subtraction 11 is performed between the speed reference value and the frequency/voltage conversion value of the output of an optical sensor 2. Then the error voltage is applied to an actuator motor 6 and the track pulses are counted to shift a magnetic head 3 into a target reference servo track. Then the witch 13 is hanged over to produce the position reference value and one of 4-phase output signals of the sensor 2 is selected (7) and undergoes subtraction9. Thus a motor 6 is revolved and halted at error voltage O (designated track). Then the servo signal of a magnetic disk 1 is detected by the head 3 and processed (15) and an actual difference is calculated between a reference servo track and a center. The off-track value stored previously is corrected for fine adjustement of the head 3. As a result, the shift time of the head 3 is shortened.
