Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition excellent in slidability, surface evenness and abrasion resistance by a process for producing a polyester containing spherical inorganic particles, wherein a slurry comprising specified inorganic particles and a specified liquid is added to the polyester in a vented molding machine. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a polyester (e.g. polyurethane terephthalate) containing spherical inorganic particles, wherein a slurry formed from spherical inorganic particles (e.g. titanium oxide) having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum and a volume shape factor of 0.40-pi/6 and water and/or an organic compound of a b.p. of 200 deg.C or below (e.g. ethanol) is added to the polyester in a vented molding machine.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to form a polyester composition excellent in slidability, surface uniformity, transparency and abrasion resistance by dispersing uniform and monodisperse crosslinked polymer particles in a polyester. CONSTITUTION:A composition prepared by dispersing uniform and monodisperse crosslinked polymer particles of a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum in a polyester comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid-based dibasic acid component and at least one glycol. The polyester composition is obtained by adding a slurry of the crosslinked polymer particles in water and/or an organic compound of a b.p. >=150 deg.C in a vented molding machine. Although not particularly limited, a styrene/divinylbenzene copolymer and a styrene/acrylonitrile/divinylbenzene copolymer can be desirably used as the above crosslinked polymer particles. The amount of the crosslinked polymer particles added is desirably 0.0001-20wt.%.

CONSTITUTION:A catalyst which comprises antimony trioxide as a main component, provides a circular substance on a filter of 36mm diameter having a color tone of 58.0-10.0 L value and -3.0-20.0 Y I value prepared by filtering 240ml of 3.57wt.% solution of the catalyst in ethylene glycol by a polytetrafluoroethylene membrane filter having 0.5mum pore diameter and contains 200ppm-2,500ppm Bi element. A catalyst containing 50ppm-1,400ppm Se element and atomic ratio (Bi/Se) of Bi element and Se element of >=0.6 and 0.1mum-0.001mum particle diameter us used. The catalyst is dissolved in a glycol and used as a polymerization catalyst.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain high-quality bishydroxyethyl terephthalate and/or its oligomer, by depolymerizing a waste polyester composed mainly of ethylene terephthalate under a specific condition in a short time. CONSTITUTION:A bishydroxyethyl terephthalate and/or its oligomer (abbreviated as BHT) wherein the equivalent ratio of the glycol component to the acid component is 1.3-2.0 is charged in a reaction vessel in molten state. Ethylene glycol and waste polyester are added simultaneously and continuously to the reaction vessel, and the waste polyester composed mainly of ethylene terephthalate is depolymerized by keeping the equivalent ratio of the glycol component to the acid component to 1.3-2.0 and keeping the temperature of the depolymerization reaction system at 215-250 deg.C under stirring. The polyester prepared by the polymerization of the BHT obtained by the depolymerization has high softening point, excellent color tone, low content of foreign materials, and high quality.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To uniformly disperse in polyester an additive insoluble and difficulty dispersible in the polyester, by dispersing the additive in ethylene glycol and adding the resulting dispersion to the polyester reaction product in a polymerizer. CONSTITUTION:In adding an additive to a polyester, the additive is dispersed in ethylene glycol to form slurry and the slurry is directly added from tank 4 through inlet 3 to the polyester reaction product A in polymerizer 1. The additives include titanium oxide, Aerosil, Siloid, calcium carbonate or carbon black, usually used as a matting agent or a pigment for solution dyeing. The addition of the additive slurry to the polymerizer produces large shearing force between the reactants the polymerizer wall, the stirrer, etc., because the viscosity of the reactants is increased as the reaction proceeds, which prevents the formation of scale of the additives.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester excellent in adhesion and less exfoliative by adding inactive fine particles when a concentration of a terminal carboxylic group in an esterified product is a specific equivalent or less in preparing a polyester from terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. SOLUTION: Inactive fine particles are added when the concentration of a terminal carboxylic acid in an esterified product is 200 equivalent/106 g or less, preferably 150 equivalent/106 g or less. As the inactive fine particles, are preferably employed aggregative silica particles. The subject method comprises addition, after transportation, of ethylene glycol specifically, in an amount such that the molar ratio thereof to all acid components is 1.4-2.0, which enables the adjustment to the aimed concentration of the terminal carboxylic group. The timing of the addition of inactive fine particles after the addition of ethylene glycol is not particularly limited, but is desirably within 30 min from the viewpoint of prevention of delay in a polymerization reaction cycle and prohibition of by-production of diethylene glycol.
