    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester composition for a film used for laminating metal plates in which particle dispersion and film moldability are good and whiteness, adhesion to the metal plate, moldability in a can manufacturing process, shaving resistance, printability and heat resistance are also excellent, and also to obtain a film using the same. SOLUTION: The polyester composition for the film for laminating the metal plates contains aluminum element and titanium oxide particles treated with a polyol compound, and the film is produced with the same.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To plan improving smoothness, wear resistance, flavor, adhesion and impact resistance by adding certain indeterminate and/or coherent inorganic particles to polyesters. SOLUTION: Indeterminate and/or coherent inorganic particles which have water contents of 0.5% or less and a peak between 50-80 ppm in spectra at C-NMR measurements, is obtained by heat mixing at least 50 deg.C for at least 5 min inorganic particles which are BET specific surface of 30-1,000 m /g of at least a one compound selected from silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, calcium phosphate, magnesium oxide, metal carbonates and silicates, and which are an average secondary particle diameter of 0.001-10 μm, with 0.001-50 wt.% of glycol compounds. An objective polyester composition is prepared by adding 0.0001-10 wt.% of indeterminate and/or coherent inorganic particles, and is necessary, 1-500 ppm of at least one element selected from germanium, antimony and titanium, with polyesters which have diethylene glycol contents of 0.5-5 wt.% and a melting point of 100-270 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester compsn. causing no filter jamming during molding and giving a film excellent in the slip, transparency, and abrasion resistance by mixing a slurry of a particulate crosslinked polymer having a specified particle diameter and functional groups with a polyester by a vent type extruder. CONSTITUTION:A polyester is prepd. from a dicarboxylic acid component mainly consisting of an arom. dicarboxylic acid (e.g. terephthalic acid) and at least one glycol component (e.g. diethylene glycol). Separately, a particle crosslinked polymer having a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5mum and functional groups (e.g. styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer) is dispersed in water and(or) an org. solvent having a b.p. of 200 deg.C or lower (e.g. methanol) to give a slurry. Then, the polyester and the slurry are fed to a vent type extruder and mixed therein to give a polyester compsn. wherein the particulate crosslinked polymer is contained in a uniform monodisperse state.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable drying in a short time by preventing fusing of polyester particles, by a method wherein at the time of the drying of the particles by microwaves, a water content of a surface layer part and inner layer part is specified. CONSTITUTION:Polyester is of polyethylene terephthalate and that consisting mainly of the polyethylene terephthalate and even a matter where a part of a terephthalic acid ingredient or a glycol ingredient is replaced by the other copolymeric ingredient may be good. It is necessary that water content of a surface layer part, which is less than 300mum from the surface is made at least 0.8wt.% and not exceeding 5wt.% and further water content of the central part (inner layer part) which is at least 300mum from the surface is made not exceeding 0.5wt.%, in a distribution of a containing water in polyester particles which is prior to irradiation of microwaves.     Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester in which a pigment is well dispersed, by a method wherein a phosphorus compd. is added to a reaction mixt. in the manufacturing stage of the polyester, and a glycol ester contg. a pigment dispersed therein is added to the reaction mixt. within a specified time period after the addition of the phosphorus compd. CONSTITUTION:A phosphorus compd. is added to a reaction mixt. in the manufacturing stage of a polyester. Then a glycol slurry contg. a pigment finely and uniformly dispersed therein is mixed with the reaction mixt. between 2 and 20min after the addition of the phoshorus compd. When the pigment slurry is added before lapse of 2min after the addition of the phosphorus compd., the agglomeration of the pigment due to the phosphorus compd. occurs. When the pigment slurry is added at a point at which more than 20min elapse after the addition of the phosphorus compd., the agglomeration of the pigment due to the temperature rise of the reaction system occurs. Thus, the uniform dispersion of the pigment in the polyester is not effected. Examples of the phosphorus compd. are phosphoric acid, phosphorous acid and esters thereof.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition having excellent laminating properties, wear resistance during drawing/wiping molding and processing and adhesiveness to a steel plate after retort, by adding cohesive silicas having different average particle diameters to a polyester comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and glycol as constituent components. SOLUTION: This polyester composition comprises (A) a polyester (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate or the like) comprising an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and glycol as main constituent components and (B) (i) a cohesive silica having 5-50 nm primary particle diameter and 0.01-2.0 average particle diameter and (ii) a cohesive silica having 0.05-5.0 average particle diameter. Preferably the amount of the component (B) (i) is 0.01-3 wt.% based on the component A and that of the component (B) (ii) is 0.005-2 wt.%. The component (B) (i) is obtained, for example, by a method for a thermal decomposition method of a silicon halide, etc., and the component (B) (ii) is obtained by a method for decomposing sodium silicate with an acid, etc. Preferably both the components B have 1.0-8.0 cm /g pare volume.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precrystallize isophthalic acid copolyester chips while preventing them from being fused and from lowering in handleability and intrinsic viscosity by drying them in the presence of fed moisture under specified conditions. SOLUTION: Isophthalic acid copolyester chips are fed from a chip inlet 3 into a drier containing an atmosphere heated to a temperature below the Tg measured by DSC before being crystallized by means of a heater 1, and moisture is fed thereinto from a feed inlet 4. They are agitated with impellers 5 and 6 driven in the counter directions by a motor M and heated to a temperature determined by formula I (wherein M is the rate of the copolymerized isophthalic acid and is in the range: 10mol% =0.25). The dried chips are discharged from an outlet 8 to obtain a copolyester giving a thermogram in which at least one Tm' (a multiple melting peak temperature ( deg.C) which appears on the side lower than Tm) when measured by DSC, the total of the respective ΔHm' (the heat absorption of Tm', Cal/g) is 0.1-8 times as high as ΔHm (the heat absorption (Cal/g) at Tm) and having a degree of crystallinity of 25-50%.
