Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a gas barrier film with high transparency and gas barrier properties by forming a layer contg. a polymer having specific repeating styrenesulfonic acid units and a polyalkylene oxide. CONSTITUTION:A gas barrier film has a layer contg. 5-95wt.% polymer having repeating styrenesulfonic acid units represented by the formula (wherein R is H or methyl; M is H, an alkali or alkaline earth metal, ammonium, or phosphonium; and R1 to R4 are each H or alkyl) and 5-95wt.% polyalkylene oxide, e.g. polyethylene oxide, having a mol.wt. of 400-1,000,000. The thickness of the layer, though not limited, is pref. 0.01-20mum in terms of gas barrier properties. The film is pref. transparent and has a light transmission of 60% or higher.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer laminate which meets required properties such as surface flawlessness, optical isotropy, super-gas barrier properties, strong wear resistance, superb conductivity and the like and can be manufactured at a low cost and without qualitative variability as well as a manufacturing method for the multi-layer laminate. SOLUTION: This multi-layer laminate is formed of a plurality of layers which show a coefficient of thermal expansion α2 lower than the coefficient of thermal expansion α1 of an organic resin A layer, laminated on the organic resin A layer in such a way that the value of the coefficient of thermal expansion α2 becomes gradually lower in proportion to a distance becoming farther from the A layer. In addition, a B layer which is formed of a non-compatible polymer with the resin A and shows a coefficient of thermal expansion α2 lower than the coefficient of thermal expansion α1 of the A layer, is melted and laminated on both faces of the A layer with the coefficient of thermal expansion α1. Further, the laminate constituted of layers such as the B layer/the A layer/the B layer is extruded from a mouthpiece and the extrusions are solidified by cooling as the method for manufacturing the multi-layer laminate.

SOLUTION: The tenter clip is used for stretching in a tenter, a heat tretment process and/or a cooling process. The mechanism of a clip gripping part is changed into such a mechanism that a film is not moved in the longitudinal direction within the clipping part in a stretching process and the film can be moved in the longitudinal direction within the clip gripping part in the heat treatment process and/or the cooling process.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the gas barrier property and the scrape-resistance of a coating film or the like under a high humidity by forming the coating film of which the major constituent components are an inorganic plate-form particle and a water-soluble polymer, on one surface of a thermoplastic resin base material, and specifying the number of surface protuberances of a specified height or higher in the coating film. SOLUTION: On one surface of a thermoplastic resin base material of polyolefin, polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate or the like, a coated film of which the major constituent components are an inorganic plate-form particle wherein one plate-form particle is formed by superposing ultra-thin unit crystal layers of kaolinite, halloysite, verculite or the like, and a water-soluble polymer using a cellulose derivative of a polyvinyl alcohol based polymer, carboxymethyl cellulose or the like, is formed. Then, the number of surface protuberances of which the height is 1.5 μm or higher in the coated film is set to be 100/mm2 or lower.

SOLUTION: A coating fluid is obtd. by dissolving dispersing 1-60wt.% inorg. layered compd. and 99-40wt.% water-soluble or -dispersible polymer in a solvent mixture comprising water and an alcohol in a wt. ratio of (99/1)-(20/80). The fluid is applied to at least one side of a thermoplastic resin substrate having a light transmission of 40% or higher, an Rt/Ra (a parameter of surface roughness) of 20 or lower, and a thickness of 2-100μm and is dried to form a coating layer having a thickness of 0.01-15μm and an Rt/Ra of 25 or lower.

SOLUTION: This gas barrier film is prepared by forming a coating film mainly consisting of a water-soluble polymer A, a water-soluble or water- dispersible polymer B having a glass transition point of 70 deg.C or below and an inorganic layered compound on at least either surface of a thermoplastic resin substrate. It is also possible that polymer B is an acrylic polymer having an average molecular weight of 100,000 or above and the coating film contains 0.01-10wt.% crosslinking agent.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve gas barrier properties under high humidity and gas barrier properties and adhesion properties after an endurance test by a method wherein a surface roughness parameter of a gas barrier film coated surface having water-soluble polymer and inorganic lamellar particle as main constituents at least on one side of a thermoset base material is made a specific numerical value or under. SOLUTION: The lamellar particle means an inorganic particle wherein very thin unit crystal layers are piled on each other to form one lamellar particle. A clay compound having swelling properties especially to a solvent is favorable. A surface roughness parameter RH of a coated surface is a maximum height and a distance from the highest crest to the deepest valley of a surface roughness curve, and Ra is a mean roughness of the center line. The surface roughness parameter Rt/Ra is necessarily 20 or under, and is best at about 10 or under. The Rt is favorable at about 1.4μm or under. The reason is because the coating layer is scraped off by contact to a roll in forming the coating at a high speed or by contact of the films to each other in winding, and the gas barrier properties and adhesion after an endurance test sometimes are deteriorated.
