Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a strong and tough plastic lens having a high refractive index of preferably >=1.60 by constituting the lens of a resin essentially consisting of a specific repeating structural unit and having three-dimensional crosslinked structure. CONSTITUTION:This lens consists of the resin essentially consisting of the repeating structural unit expressed by the formula I and having the three- dimensional crosslinked structure. In the formula, R1, R2 are hydrogen or methyl group, x is a halogen atom except fluorine, m=0-4, n=0-1 integer. More specifically, this plastic lens has the residual mono(meth)acrylate group and urethane bond of the bisphenol S deriv. obtd. by a vinyl polymn. of the urethanated (meth)acryl monomer formed by bringing the monohydroxymono(meth)acrylate of a 2,2-bisphenol sulfone (bisphenol S) derive. and polyfunctional isocyanate into reaction. The residual mono(meth)acrylate group of the bisphenol S deriv. is obtd. by making the polymn. using a prescribed monomer.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a plastic lens having a refractive index similar to or higher than ordinary glass lenses in refractive index and superior in impact resisting strength and heat resistance by using a copolymer obtained by reacting 2,2- bisphenolsulfone (bisphenol-S) deriv. di(meth)acrylate with a copolymerizable vinyl copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The plastic lens is made of a copolymer having a structure represented by the formula shown on the right in which R1, R2 are each H or methyl; X is Cl, Br, or I, m is 0-4; n is 0 or 1; A is a unit derived from the copolymerized vinyl monomer; bisphenol S deriv. di(meth)crylate units (p) may amount to 50-90wt%, preferably, 50-75wt%; and A units (q) is 10-50wt%. When said (p) is 90wt%, the di(meth)crylate is too rich, so, solubility is made too small, and hardly practicable. The weight proportion of each copolymer components can be easily determined by FT-IR, NMR, elementary analysis, and the like.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A resin for plastic spectacle lenses having good impact resistance and bending elasticity and a high refractive index, prepared by polymerizing an epoxy compound with a halogen-containing acid anhydride at a specified reactant ratio. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy compound (e.g., 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl 3,4-epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate) is mixed and reacted with a halogen-containing acid anhydride (e.g., tetrabromophthalic anhydride) at an epoxy group/acid anhydride ratio of 0.5-1.5pref., 0.6-1.2. Further, in order to accelerate the curing of the resin, a cure accelerator such as an imidazole, tert. amine or metal salt can be used. In this way, the titled resin providing a high refractive index is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled resin capable of forming tough lenses having a high refractive index and excellent impact resistance, prepared by polymerizing an isocyanate comound with a specified hydroxyl group-copntaining compound. CONSTITUTION:A resin for plastic lenses is obtained by reacting (A) a hydroxyl group-containing compound at least 30wt% of which consists of a compound containing a halogen and at least two hydroxyl groups (e.g., dibromoneopentyl glycol) with (B) an isocyante compound (e.g., hexamethylene diisocyanate) in an NCO/OH molar ratio of 0.5-1.5. Further, trimethylolpropane or the like is used as the hydroxyl group-containing compounds other than the above compound and methyl (meth)acrylate or the like can also be used in addition to the above components A and B.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a resin plate for optical use, composed of a specific transparent resin, having excellent uniformity of birefringence in one direction, birefringence retention in high-temperature heat-treatment, durability, heat- resistance and chemical resistance and having a phase difference compensation function. CONSTITUTION:This resin plate is composed of a transparent resin having a glass transition temperature and softening temperature of >=150 deg.C and obtained by the polymerization of a composition containing a monomer of formula (R and R are each H or CH3; R is a 1-20C alkyl, an aryl, etc.) and has a thickness of >=100mum and a birefringence of 100-1,000nm in the drawn direction. The transparent resin is preferably a polyolefin copolymer produced by the copolymerization of 40-60wt.% of the monomer of formula and 2-80wt.% of a polyfunctional monomer having >=2 unsaturated groups at 150-250 deg.C. The monomer of formula is preferably a combination of an N-alkylmaleimide and an N-alicyclic alkylmaleimide such as N-iso-propylmaleimide and N- cyclohexylmaleimide.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a high refractive index, satisfactory formability and heat resistance by using a resin contg. specified two kinds of monomers as essential components and having a three-dimensional structure. CONSTITUTION:A plastic lens is made of a resin contg. a monomer represented by formula I (where X is halogen other than F and m=1-5) and a monomer represented by formula II (where R is H or methyl, X is halogen other than F, Y is a group represented by formula III, m=3-5 and n=0-5) as essential components and having a three-dimensional structure. A residue of a multifunctional vinyl compound represented by formula IV (where each of R1 and R2 is H or methyl, X is halogen other than F, A is -SO4- or the like, m=0-2 and n=0-1) or formula V is preferably used as a compound having a three-dimensional structure in the resin. It is preferable that the resin is composed essentially of 20-85pts.wt. monomer represented by the formula I, 5-70pts.wt. monomer represented by the formula II and 10-60pts.wt. units having a three-dimensional cross-linkable structure. Since the monomers represented by the formulae I, II are used by large amounts, a lens having a high refractive index of >=1.63 is obtd. and the thickness of the peripheral part of the lens can be reduced. Since the multifunctional monomer is used, the degree of cross-linking is increased and superior heat and shock resistances and workability are provided.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the titled tape for the production of cloudless plastic lens by casting, by applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer composed of a rubber and a tackifier consisting of a terpene resin and a specific petroleum resin to a surface of a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The objective tape can be produced by coating (A) a surface of a substrate (e.g. polyethylene terephthalate film) with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer composed of (B) a rubber (e.g. natural rubber) and (C) a tackifier selected from a terpene resin, an aliphatic petroleum resin synthesized from the 5C fraction of petroleum and an alicyclic petroleum resin synthesized from the 9C fraction of petroleum. The amount of the component C is preferably 40-200pts.(wt.) per 100pts. of the component B. The adhesive tape or sheet is used for sealing the circumference of a pair of molds positioned keeping a prescribed gap in the casting of a plastic lens.

Abstract: PURPOSE:Titled composition, giving a resin paint with excellent weather resistance and enhanced coating properties, which is prepared by the reaction of a polyol with a trifunctional isocyanate in a specified NCO/OH mol ratio. CONSTITUTION:A polyurethane resin with excellent weatherability, having crosslinking parameter of 150-1,500, and containing 5X10 -50X10 mol of carbamide group per g, which is prepared by the reaction of (A) a polyol with (B) a functional isocyanate of the formula (wherein R is 2-3C divalent hydrocarbon) in an NCO/OH mol ratio of 0.5-20. The MW of polyol (A) is preferably 500- 5,000 far a high-solid type paint, 500-1,000 when a polyester polyol is used, and 1,000-3,000 when a polyacryl polyol is used. A polyol of higher MW, is used far a non-high-solid type paint. (B) is beta-isocyanatoethyl 2,6-diisocyanatocaproate etc.
