    Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled fiber for clothing that is composed of a specific polybutylene terephthalate fiber containig a specific amount of carboxyl groups substituted with an alkali metal, thus showing improved moisture absorption and preventing duststicking and pilling. CONSTITUTION:A polybutylene terephthalate fiber containing more than 80 mole% butylene terephthalate as a recurring unit is dipped in an aqueous solution containing a monomer having vinyl and carboxyl groups such as acrylic or methacrylic acid and the polymerization is effected. Then, the substitution treatment is conducted with an alkali metal salt such as sodium carbonate to produce the objective fiber containing 2.0-40.0, preferably 5.0-20.0X10 mole/g. fiber of carboxyl groups substituted with an alkali metal.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Polyester fiber containing specific inert inorganic particles and polyalkylene glycol in specified amounts respectively is highly twisted and treated with an alkali to make the surface coarse, thus improving the color-developing property. CONSTITUTION:Polyester fibers containing (A) 0.1-4wt% of an inert inorganic particles with an average particle size of less than 5mu, preferably less than 100mmu, selected from the group consisting of silicon-containing inorganic fine particles such as mica or kaolin, oxides of metals of Group II in the periodic table or its salts such as zinc oxide or barium phosphate, thorium oxide and zirconium oxide and (B) 1-10wt% of a polyalkylene glycol of less than 5,000 molecular weight are strongly twisted or falsely twisted. Then, it is treated with an alkaline solution to reduce the weight by 10-30% to give the objective fiber.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A polyester fiber, having a remarkable color developing property, and covered with longitudinal discontinuous hollows of specific depth and finer unevennesses on the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:0.1-5wt% silicon oxide containing aluminum oxide having an average primary particle size of 100mmu or less is added to any stage of a polyester till the completion of polymerization, and the resultant spun and drawn fiber is heated in an alkaline aqueous solution, e.g. caustic soda, to hydrolyze the fiber surface. According to the method, a polyester fiber covered with 5-30discontinuous hollows of depth 0.3-0.8mu and long in the fiber axis direction per 100mu and finer unevennesses is obtained.
