Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable SOx to be effectively removed and enable solutions having superior cohesive force to be recovered by using an acidic solution containing iron salt and alkalis in absorption solution of an exhaust smoke desulfurization apparatus. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas containing SOx is contacted with the absorption solution which contains iron salt (e.g.; ferrous sulfate) and has been controlled so as to become pH 1.0 to 4.5, preferably 2.5 to 4.0 through addition of alkalis, whereby the SOx is removed. It is desirable in terms of the use as a flocculant that the iron salt concentration be such that the iron salt concentration of the recovered solution becomes 5 to 15%.
