    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a polyester copolymer having high glass transition temperature and excellent mechanical properties and moldability, by using a dicarboxybenzanilide or its derivative as a part of acid component, and an alkylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:The title polyester is prepared by the polycondensation of (A) an acid component composed of (i) terephthalic acid or its derivative and (ii) a 4,4'-dicarboxybenzanilide derivative of formula (R1,2 are H, lower alkyl, or phenyl) and (B) a 2-4C alkylene glycol. The amount of the (ii) component is 0.5- 50mol%, pref. 2-40mol%, based on the (A) component. The (ii) component can be prepared, e.g. by reacting a p-aminobenzoic acid ester with equimolar amount of the acid chloride of a terephthalic acid monoester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Title polyester copolymer that is made by copolymerizing a specific amide- group containing compound, thus having a largely raised glass transition point and showing high mechanical properties, insulating and thermal characteristics. CONSTITUTION:Copolymerization of 4,4'-dicarboxybenzanilide or its ester-forming derivative with a polyester from aromatic dicarboxylic acid and alkylene glycol is effected to produce the objective amide group containing polyester copolymer having recurring units of formula I and II [X is aromatic residue, preferably that of terephthaloyl; m and n are 2 or more integral number, preferably 2-6; x and y are 1 or more integer]. The ratio of x/y is adjusted so that y/x+y becomes 0.05-0.45. EFFECT:Said polyester copolymer can be made into colorless or pale yellow fiber, film or plastic.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer scarcely containing coagulated particle, having excellent particle dispersibility and suitable for magnetic tape, etc., by adding calcium carbonate particles having specific average particle diameter and crystal particle diameter to a polyester derived from an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a glycol. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester can be produced by adding (A) calcium carbonate having an average particle diameter of 0.02-2.5mum and crystal particle diameter of 400-700Angstrom to a reaction system of (B) a bifunctional acid component composed mainly of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and (C) a glycol component such as ethylene glycol at the initial stage of polymerization, e.g. in the stage of prepolymer and the components are subjected to polycondensation reaction. The component A is added in an amount of 0.005-5wt.% based on the polyester preferably as a slurry in the component C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polyester having improved transparency, and improved mechanical properties, e.g., rigidity, elasticity, etc. by subjecting a 4,4'- dicarboxylic acid phenyl ester (derivative), etc. and an alkylene glycol to condensation polymerization. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100-0.5mol%, preferably 30-2mol% based on total dicarboxylic acid 4,4'-dicarboxybenzoic acid phenyl ester (ester forming derivative) shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl, or phenyl), (B) 0-99.5mol% aromatic dicarboxylic acid (ester forming derivative), and (C) 2-8C alkylene glycol are subjected to condensation polymerization, to give the desired polyester.
