    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide an anion exchange membrane having excellent alkali resistance by the reaction of a film comprising a specific polymeric material with a specified amine, with an alcoholate and subsequently with an alkyl iodine. CONSTITUTION:A film comprising a polymeric material of formula I (X is F or CF3; l is 0-5; m is 0 or 1; n is 1-5; p and q are a positive integer, respectively, provided that p/q is 2-16) is reacted with an amine of formula II (r and s are 1-8; R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl; R2 is 1-4C alkyl; R3 and R4 are 1-6C alkyl) (preferably at room temperature - 80 deg.C for 100hr), with an alcoholate (e.g., sodium methylate) (preferably at room temperature - 90 deg.C) and subsequently with an alkyl iodine (e.g., methyl iodine) to provide an anion exchange membrane suitable for an electrolysis diaphragm used for the recovery of an alkali from an inorganic salt, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an ultrafiltration membrane having high antibacterial property causing extremely small amt. of adsorption of hydrophobic object of treatment by using a polyvinyl formal resin with a restricted molecular weight distribution without adding any pore forming agent, etc. CONSTITUTION:A dope having about 8-15wt.% concn. of a polyvinyl formal resin having a recurrent unit expressed by formula I is prepd. using N,N- dimethyl formamide as solvent. The dope is applied uniformly to polyester nonwoven fabric, acid., and obtd. coated fabric is then dipped in a coagulation bath contg. water at about 0-45 deg.C to transfer the solvent in the dope into a liquid phase in the coagulation bath. Thus, the dope is gelled, and an ultrafiltration film is formed by a wet film forming method. By this method, an ultrafiltration membrane consisting of polyvinyl formal having extremely high hydrophilic property and 1,000,000-3,000,000 molecular weight restricted distribution is obtd.

CONSTITUTION:(A) Bisphenol expressed by formula I (A is formula II-V) is reacted with (B) alpha,alpha-dihalogenotoluene expressed by formula VI (X and X' are halogen) in the presence of a base, preferably at 50-100 deg.C for 10min-48hr to provide the aimed polymer having a recurring unit expressed by formula VII. Furthermore, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidine or 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone is preferably used as an organic solvent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title exchange membrane having excellent durability, acid resistance, heat resistance, solvent resistance and high current efficiency, by treating an anion exchange membrane having a specified structure with an alkali metal hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:A film is prepd. from a copolymer of formula V (wherein X is F or CF3; l is 0-5; m is 0 or 1; n is 1-5; r is 2 or 3; p/q=2-16) obtd. by copolymerizing CF2=CF2 and a comonomer of formula I-IV in the presence of a free radical initiator at 0-200 deg.C under a pressure of 1-200atm. Then, this film is reacted with an amine of formula VI or VII (wherein b is r; R2-3 are each 1-5C alkyl) in a solvent at room temp.-80 deg.C for max. about 60hr, if necessary, treated with an alkali metal hydroxide and reacted with an alkylating agent (e.g., CH3I) to obtain an anion exchange membrane of formula VIII [wherein Z is halogen; R1 is R2; R4 may be -(CH2)b- formed by combining R1 or R3 with R4]. Then, this exchange membrane is treated in an aq. soln. of an alkali metal hydroxide (e.g., NaOH) whose concn. is 0.1-70wt.% at 10-80 deg.C for 1-200hr.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity and the resolution and the dry-etching durability of a resist material by using a polymer having a specified repeating unit as the resist material. CONSTITUTION:The resist material comprises the polymer having the repeating unit shown by the formula wherein X is halogen atom, R is hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, (n) is an integer of 20-20,000. The polymer is obtd. by homopolymerizing an alpha-halogen substd. acrylic acid ester, and the halogen atom substd. at alpha-position of said ester is preferably fluorine, chlorine or bromine atom, and the substituent group of a benzene ring is hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, and the lower alkyl group is preferably 1-5C alkyl group. Thus, the resist material having the high sensitivity and resolution and the excellent dye-etching durability is obtd.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title ion exchange membrane having excellent durability to repeated wetting and drying and being suitable for a sensor etc., composed of a membrane of a specified trilaminar structure and comprising a perfluorocarbon polymer. CONSTITUTION:A membrane of a copolymer comprising repeating units of formulas I, II, etc. is prepared. Sulfonamide groups are introduced into both sides of the copolymer membrane by reacting with an amine so that sulfonyl halide groups in the center of the membrane may remain intact, the sulfonyl halide groups in the center are converted into sulfonic groups by hydrolysis, and the sulfonamide groups are further quaternized. In this way, the title non- crosslinked ion exchange membrane which consists of a unitary but trilaminar membrane, having anionic exchange groups in the pendent chains in both sides of the three layers, having cationic exchange groups in the pendent chains in the central layer and in which all of the layers have main chains comprising a perfluorocarbon polymer can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a resin which can give a pellicle excellent in transmittance, etc., and durability to i-rays of a lithographic light source by reacting a polyvinyl acetal resin of a specified composition with hydrazine monohydrate. CONSTITUTION:Polyvinyl alcohol is reacted with an aldehyde to produce a polyvinyl acetal resin represented by formula I (wherein R is 1-3 linear or branched alkyl) and having a content of vinyl acetate units, y/(x+y+z), 0.1 or below and a degree of acetalization, z/(x+y+z), of 0.6 or above. To remove an unsaturated carbonyl structure of formula II (wherein n=0 or 1-3) contained in a small amount in the main chain of this resin, it is reacted with hydrazine monohydrate. The transmittance of a methylene chloride solution of the obtained resin at 365nm is as high as 93-97%, and this resin gives a film which neither discolors nor degrades even when irradiated with i-rays.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably and efficiently decompose a salt into an acid and a base by composing a water splitter by putting an anion-exchange membrane, an amphoteric ion-exchange membrane, a cation-exchange membrane in this order from an anode side without contacting each other. CONSTITUTION:Using at least one water-splitter 4, a salt-solution is converted into a hydroxide and an acid by electric dialysis. In the case, the water-splitter 4 is composed by putting an anion-exchange membrane 1, an amphoteric- exchange membrane 3, and a cation-exchange membrane in this order from an anode side without contacting each other. As a result, manufacture of an acid and a base from a salt or a decomposition of a salt as an industrial waste into an acid and a base can be carried out stably and highly efficiently.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain excellent developability, residual film rate, etc., by constituting the resist compsn. of a specific polymer and photosensitive agent. CONSTITUTION:The resist compsn. is constituted of the polymer expressed by formula I and the photosensitive agent. In formula I, R denotes a hydrogen atom or a group selected from 1 to 5C alkyl group. The polymer expressed by formula I is alkali soluble polymers and is polymers of m-hydroxystyrenes such as m-hydroxystyrene and m-hydroxy alpha-methyl styrene. The hydroxystyrene polymers having 1,000 to 50,000 weight average mol. wt. are usable. Ester naphthoquinonediazide sulfonates and benzoquinonediazide sulfonates are used for the photosensitive material, by which the use of the resist compsn. as a positive type resist compsn. is enabled. The resist compsn. having the excellent developability, residual film rate, etc., are obtd. in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film for ultrafiltration without the adsorption of material to be treated, having excellent antibacterial property by using a polymer film mixed with 2 kinds of polyvinylformal resin having different mol.wt. and repetitive unit of fixed formula in ultrafiltration an aq. soln. of hydrophobic protein milk, etc. CONSTITUTION:The 2 kinds of resin having the repetitive unit of formula I, and having 550-650 and 700-800 degree of polymerization n are dissolved in a solvent to prepare a dope. The dope is applied to polyester non-woven fabric and then, immersed in a coagulation bath to produce the film by wet film- forming method. The film is highly hydrophilic and has the scare adsorption of the material to be treated. Besides, it has excellent decomposability of bacteria. Therefore, the film can be used for manufacturing process of pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, etc., and treatment of waste water.
