    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display panel of a polymer dispersed type having excellent water resistance by crimping a medium layer by two sheets of substrates in such a manner that transparent electrode surface face each other and forming a sealing material for sealing the peripheral edge part of the substrate of a UV curing type adhesive. CONSTITUTION:The UV curing type adhesive is used for the sealing material which seals the peripheral edge parts of the liquid crystal display panel formed by crimping the medium layer by two sheets of the substrates in such a manner that the transparent electrode surface for each other. The UV curing type adhesives essentially consisting of, for example, acrylate, methacrylate, modified urethane, and modified epoxy acrylate, are exemplified as the UV curing type adhesive to be used as the sealing material. The liquid crystal display panel can be sealed for a short period of time under mild conditions by using such UV curing type adhesive. The panel having low hygroscopicity and long-term reliability is obtd. in this way.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve long-term reliability by previously forming an adhesive layer on the peripheral edge of at least one substrate, then superposing two sheets of the substrates and sealing the substrates. CONSTITUTION:The adhesive layer is previously formed in the peripheral edge of at least one substrate and thereafter, two sheets of the substrates are superposed and are sealed in the case of production of the liquid crystal display panel which consists of two sheets of the substrates disposed with transparent electrodes and a medium layer formed by dispersing a liquid crystal into a medium and is crimped with the medium layer by means of two sheets of the substrates in such a manner that the transparent electrode surfaces face each other. While the adhesive is not particularly limited, a hot melt adhesive, UV curing type adhesive, epoxy resin adhesive, thermosetting type adhesive, etc., are adequately used. After the adhesive is previously applied in the peripheral edge of at least one substrate and thereafter, the other substrate is superposed thereon and the substrates are hermetically sealed in such a manner and, therefore, the hydroscopicity is small and the long-term reliability is excellent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal display panel having low hygroscopicity and improved long-term reliability by using paraffin wax as a sealing material for sealing the peripheral edges of substrates. CONSTITUTION:The paraffin wax is used as the sealing material for sealing the peripheral edges of the substrates. While the paraffin wax to be used as the sealing material is not particularly limited, the paraffin wax having about 60 to 75 deg.C m. p. is more preferable. The sealing material is applied in a heated and molten state to the sealing part at the peripheral edges of the substrates and more preferably the paraffin wax is applied to the peripheral edges of the substrates after these edges are sealed by an epoxy resin. The lower hygroscopicity and the improved long-term reliability are obtd. in this way.

Further, the substrate peripheral edge part can be sealed in a short time and the adverse influence of heating in the sealing process upon the liquid crystal can be made small.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obviate the internal infiltration of water and to prevent the deterioration in the performance of the liquid crystal display during long-term use by using a hydrocarbon resin essentially consisting of polyolefins to form a sealing material which seals the peripheral edge parts of substrates. CONSTITUTION:The sealing material which seals the peripheral edge parts of the substrates of the liquid crystal display panel is formed of the hydrocarbon resin. The more specific examples of the hydrocarbon resin include the independent polymers of ethylene or two- or higher dimensional block or random copolymers of ethylene and other alpha-olefins, such as propylene, butene, pentene, hexane, and heptane. Further, the sealing material added with fillers is applied on the sealing port part, by which the moisture resistance is additionally improved. Small hygroscopicity is obtd. and the long-term reliability is improved in this way.

    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A phenylpyrazine derivative shown by formula I (X is halogen). EXAMPLE:2-Bromo-5-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pyrazine. USE:Useful as an intermediate for drugs and agricultural chemicals or an intermediate for fine chemicals such as liquid crystal or perfume, having stability to light rays, heat and water and preservable for a long period. PREPARATION:A glyoxal derivative shown by formula II is coupled with glycinamide hydrochloride in methanol in the presence of an alkali as shown by the reaction formula to give a compound shown by formula III. Then the compound shown by the formula III is treated with N,N-dimethylaniline or N,N-diethylaniline and a halogenating agent such as phosphorus oxychloride to give a compound shown by formula IV. Then the compound shown by formula IV is treated with hydrobromic acid in a solvent of acetic acid, demethylated and brominated to give a compound shown by formula I.
