    Abstract: PURPOSE:The polycondensation reaction for aromatic polyamide is conducted in a solvent such as dimethylacetamide or methylpyrrolidone and the resultant small-piece polyamide containing the solvent is subjected to extraction with an organic chlorine solvent to permit the recovery of the solvent for polycondensation reaction in high yield. CONSTITUTION:The reaction of an aromatic dibasic acid dichloride with an aromatic diamine is conducted in a solvent selected from (A) N,N-dimethylacetamide and N-methylpyrrolidone or a mixture thereof with (B) another solvent selected from 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, N-methylcaprolactam and N-acetylpyrrolidine at -10-80 deg.C to produce small-piece product of aromatic polyamide such as poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide or its copolyamide containing the solvent. Then, the solvent is extracted with an organic chlorine solvent such as dichloroethane and recovered by distillation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having improved initial modulus, tensile strength, knot strength and heat resistance, by wet spinning a solution of a polyamide comprising a dichlorobenzidinesulfonic acid as a diamine component in a conc. sulfuric acid. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide consisting of (A) a dichlorobenzidinesulfonic acid of formula I and (B) p-phenylene-diamine of formula II as an amine component and (C) terephthalic acid of formula III as an acid component is dissolved in a >=98% conc sulfuric acid. The resulting solution is extruded to give the objective fiber having an initial modules >=400g/d and a tensile strength >=14g/d. The molar ratio of (A) to (B) is preferably 10:90-50:50. The fiber is then heat-treated if necessary at 200-600 deg.C within 15sec under a tension of 5g/d or lower. EFFECT:Improved adhesiveness to various plastics and rubbers.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a 3,3',4,4'-brphenyltertracarboxylic acid salt, selectively, in high yield, by carrying out coupling reaction of a mixture of halogenated o-phthalic acid salts containing a 4-halogeno-o-phthalic acid salt in an aqueous solution containing an alkali hydroxide. CONSTITUTION:A desired compound is prepared by carrying out the thermal coupling reaction of a mixture of halogenated o-phthalic acid salts containing a 4-halogeno-o-phthalic acid salt (30 - 99.5 mole % on the basis of the total amount of the halogenated-o-phthalic acid salts) in an aqueous solution containing an alkali hydroxide at 50 - 150 deg.C for 0.2 - 30 hr in the presence of a matallic Pd catalyst carried on a carrier, preferably Pd/C or Pd/calcium carbonate catalyst, and a samll amount of methanol. The by-produced o-phthalic acid salts are recovered as o-phthalic acid or its anhydride and can be recycled for the preparation of the halogenated phthalic acid salts. USE:Raw material of polyimide resin.
