    Abstract: A novel copolyamide fiber having an excellent initial modulus of elasticity and mechanical strength, is made from a copolyamide consisting essentially of unit A of the formula (A): (A) unit (B) of the formula (B): (B) and unit (C) of the formula (C): (C) wherein CH3 groups in the formula (A) are located in the ortho-position to NH groups, the sum of the amount of units (A) and (B) is substantially equimolar to the amount of unit (C) and the molar ratio of unit (A) to unit (B) is from 10/90 to 50/50.

    Abstract: Fibers of a copolyamide derived from a diamine component including 10 to 50 mole % of benzidine sulfone or 2,7-diaminophenanthridone and 90 to 50 mole % of p-phenylene diamine and a dicarboxylic acid component derived from a reactive derivative of terephthalic acid are disclosed. The fibers have an initial modulus of elasticity of at least 400 g/d and a tensile strength of at least 16 g/d. The fibers have in combination various desirable properties, such as excellent initial modulus of elasticity, high tensile strength, high knot strength, high heat resistance and good adhesiveness to various plastics, rubbers and adhesives, and they are valuably used in various industrial fields as fibrous reinforcers and for production of fiber-reinforced plastics and rubber products.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polyamide useful as film materials, etc. in good operating efficiency, by reacting an aromatic diamine and an aromatic dicarboxylic dihalide in a nitrogen-containing organic solvent having a specific amount of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone. CONSTITUTION:30-80Vol% of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone is added to a nitrogen-containing organic solvent, e.g., N,N-dimethylacetamide, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. In the resulting solvent, an aromatic diamine, e.g., p-phenylenediamine, methyl p-phenylenediamine, 2,6-diaminonaphthylene, benzidine-sulfonic acid is reacted with an aromatic dicarboxylic dihalide, e.g., terephthaloyl dichloride, tetrachloroterephthaloyl dichloride at a temperature range of not higher than 60 deg.C, preferably about 20-50 deg.C under stirring and the reaction product is neutralized to give the desired polyamide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fibers having a high level of strength and elasticity and further improved moisture and light resistance, by melt spinning a copolyimide having repeating units derived from a specific aromatic diamine component and aromatic tetracarboxylic acid component. CONSTITUTION:A copolyimide, having repeating units derived from (A) an aromatic diamine component constituted of a mol component of formula I and if necessary b mol component of formula II and (B) an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid component constituted of c mol component of formula III and if necessary d mol component of formula IV in amounts satisfying the formula a+b= c+d at 0-1 ratio (b/a) and 0-3/7 ratio (d/c) and >=1.5 logarithmic viscosity number (inherent viscosity) is dissolved in a phenolic solvent to prepare a dope, which is then extruded into air, molded into a filament shape and coagulated in a coagulation bath. The resultant filaments are wound, washed, dried and hot-drawn at 250-420 deg.C at >=2 draw ratio to give the aimed fibers.
