    Abstract: A novel copolyamide fiber having an excellent initial modulus of elasticity and mechanical strength, is made from a copolyamide consisting essentially of unit A of the formula (A): (A) unit (B) of the formula (B): (B) and unit (C) of the formula (C): (C) wherein CH3 groups in the formula (A) are located in the ortho-position to NH groups, the sum of the amount of units (A) and (B) is substantially equimolar to the amount of unit (C) and the molar ratio of unit (A) to unit (B) is from 10/90 to 50/50.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Filament yarns having high initial modlus and tenacity, made from a wholly aromatic copolyamide consisting of specific sturctural units. CONSTITUTION:A solution of a copolyamide consisting substantially of units of formula I: (X is CO or SO2) and units of formula II and III in substantially equimolar amounts of units of formula III and formula I and II at a molar ratio of the units of formulas (I) to (II) of 10:90-50:50 in >=98% conc. sulfuric acid is spun into filament yarns having an inital modulus >=400g/dl and a tenacity >=16g/ dl. The copolyamide has an inherent viscosity >=2.0 dl/g, preferably >=3.0dl/g measured by using a 0.5g/dl solution in conc. sulfuric acid at 30 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To extract and recover an N-alkylamide from an aqueous solution containing the amide, in high efficiency, by using a specific extraction solvent. CONSTITUTION:N-Alkylamides (e.g. DMA, NMP, 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone) are recovered from an aqueous solution containing the amides, by extracting with an extraction solvent selected from pyrrole, anilines, 1-pentanol, cyclohexanol, 3- chloropropionitrile, and phenols. The volume ratio of the solvent to the solution is 0.05-5 to 1. Useful for the recovery of N-alkylamides from a large amount of wash water used for the separation of an aromatic polyamide from its solution. The process can be applied effectively even if the wash water contains LiCl or CaCl2.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Copolyamide fibers that are composed of specific structures as recurring units and useful for industrial fibers as reinforcing materials for rubber products, ropes, filter cloths, a variety of covering cloths and others because of their high initial modulus, tensile strength, knot strength and heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:Said copolyamide fibers are substantially composed of rccurring units of structures shown by formula I, II and III wherein the units of formula I and II is substantialy equimolar with the unit of formula III and the molar ratio of the unit of formula I to that of formula II is 10/90-50/50. A copolyamide with an inherent viscosity of over 2.0, preferably over 3.0 dl/g measured with 0.5g/dl solution in 95-98% sulfuric acid at 30 deg.C is wet spun using conc, or fuming sulfuric acid as a solvent and water as a coagulant, forming fibers with initial modulus over 400g/d and tensile strength over 16g/d.
