Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a crack of the welding outside end part, endure gas pressure when a lamp is lighted, and improve fracture toughness of the projecting part by putting a welding outside end part diameter and the molybdenum concentration of an almost columnar blocking-up part structure of an inclining functional member having one end side rich in molybdenum and the other end side rich in silica, in the specific relationship. SOLUTION: The relationship of M=0.38 D -4.6 D+23 when a diameter D mm is 1.4 to 6 mm and 8.8 wt.% when the diameter is not less than 6 mm, is imparted during the molebdenum concentration wt.% of an inclining functional material with the diameter D mm of a blocking-up part structure 50 as a parameter to increase fracture toughness. However, when it approaches a non-cracking critical line, the welding part F can be lengthened to that extent.

A thin metal film is grasped by a slit 22 communicating with the welded part space to eliminate the eccentricity of the electrode.

In this case, a sleeve part 13 having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the stopper 20 is so formed at the outer end of each of the sealing tube parts 12 of the bulb 10 as to extend outward in the axial direction.

In this lamp 1, the sealing quantity of the halogen is set within the range of 2×10 -7×10 μmol/mm .
