Abstract:
A device for colorimetrically measuring the concentration of a single parameter in a liquid sample. The device comprises a pump, an analytical cassette, a sensor with a continuous flux measurement vessel, and an electronic control module. The device further comprises a repetitive calibrating means which may be used at any time and includes a means for drawing a straight calibration line through three points; a repetitive means for sampling measurements on stable segments of a constant portion of the analytical curve; and a means for phasing the sampling means.
Abstract:
A device may determine a calibration value for a spectrometer using light from a first light source; deactivate the first light source after determining the calibration value; perform measurement with regard to a sample based on the calibration value, wherein the measurement of the sample is performed using light from a second light source; determine that the calibration value is to be updated; and update the calibration value using the light from the first light source.
Abstract:
A monitoring system is presented for monitoring quality of fluid in a fluid chamber. The system includes: a sensing system which comprises sensing units of different types configured to measure multiple parameters of the fluid and generate corresponding measured fluid quality data and to perform self-diagnostic of an operational condition of the sensing system and generate sensing data indicative of sensing quality, and a control system comprising a local controller configured to be responsive to data indicative of a relation between the measured fluid quality data and the sensing quality and selectively generate operational data to initiate one or more of the following: generation of alarm signal indicative of an abnormal condition of the quality of the fluid, correction of the measured fluid quality data in accordance with the sensing quality; and replacement of one or more elements of the sensing units.
Abstract:
A portable blood chemistry monitoring meter that employs an analog circuit in conjunction with a manually adjustable potentiometer to locate a null position that balances the measure taken of the blood chemistry-induced changes in the chemistries of disposable test strips. The meter displays in pre-printed, man-readable format blood chemistry concentrations that are individually calibrated to the specific batch-lot chemistries of the disposable test strips used with the meter. In a preferred embodiment, the meter is a blood glucose monitoring meter.
Abstract:
A record of calibration data containing determined values required for accurate operation of a scientific instrument measuring transmissions or absorbance of light in analysis is provided. A method of maintaining and using the records generated by the instrument permits use of the instrument to determine which records are required for efficient and easy instrument usage.

Abstract:
An optical fluid tester device for testing a fluid sample in an ampoule includes an ampoule cradle, a radiation source, a radiation detector and an analyzer. The ampoule cradle supports the ampoule. The ampoule with the fluid sample serves as a lens whose focal properties are dependent on the index of refraction of the fluid sample. The radiation source irradiates the ampoule. The radiation detector is located opposite the radiation source so that the ampoule, when supported by the ampoule cradle, lies between the radiation source and the radiation detector. The detector serves to detect the intensity of the incident radiation. The analyzer verifies the composition of the fluid sample based on the detected intensity, which is dependent on the focal properties of the ampoule and is, therefore, indicative of the composition of the fluid sample.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a sample and reference data from being scattered by improving the ease of use of a standard surface sample, such as a white plate. SOLUTION: In a standard color sample 6 for giving reference data to a colorimeter, a sample section 51 for giving actually measured data by performing colorimetry by the colorimeter 5, a storage medium 52 for storing identification data for identifying the type of the sample section 51, reference data corresponding to the optical characteristics of the sample section, and date data for indicating the date when the reference data are acquired, and an interfacing means 53 for sending data stored at the storage medium 52 to the colorimeter are provided integrally.
