    Abstract: An AC plasma display panel includes first and second plates, a discharge space, a plurality of pairs of scan electrodes and common electrodes, and a plurality of data electrodes. The first and second plates are arranged opposite to each other through a predetermined gap, at least one of which is transparent. The discharge space is partitioned into a plurality of pixels. The pairs of scan electrodes and common electrodes are formed on the inner surface of the first plate in the row direction to allow emission sustaining surface discharge therebetween.     Abstract: A plasma display apparatus which improves the contrast of images displayed thereon. A plurality of paired row electrodes Xi, Yi are formed in parallel with each other in a surface discharge AC plasma display apparatus. A plurality of column electrodes are formed facing to the paired row electrodes through a discharge space, and extend perpendicularly to the paired row electrodes so as to define a unit light emitting region including an intersection formed every time the column electrode cross with the paired row electrodes. A gas mixture including Ne.Xe is sealed in the discharge space at a pressure ranging from 400 torr to 600 torr. The row electrodes in the unit light emitting region are formed to have a width w of 300 mu m or more. The intensity of light emitted by discharge not related to display is suppressed.

    Abstract: Se describe una pantalla de panel plano, de plasma, consistiendo en un recinto llenado con gas, hermeticamente sellado. El recinto incluye un sustrato de vidrio superior teniendo una pluralidad de pares de electrodos sustentadores paralelos depositados en la superficie interior del mismo y cuando menos un electrodo auxiliar asociado con cada par de electrodos sustentadores depositado en la superficie interior entre los electrodos sustentadores asociados. El recinto tambien incluye una pelicula dielectrica delgada cubriendo los electrodos sustentadores y auxiliares y un sustrato de vidrio inferior separado del sustrato de vidrio superior. El sustrato inferior incluye una pluralidad de rebordes barrera alternantes y micro hendiduras. El electrodo de direccion esta asociado con cada micro hendidura y un fosforo se deposita sobre una porcion de cada electrodo de direccion. Un primer voltaje se aplica al electrodo auxiliar para iniciar una descarga entre el electrodo auxiliar y un electrodo sustentador. Un segundo voltaje, que es mayor que el primer voltaje, se aplica a los electrodos sustentadores y hace que la descarga se extienda entre los electrodos sustentadores.

According to the present invention, a method for manufacturing a plasma display panel comprises the steps of: forming a plurality of electrodes on insulating substrates; forming a conductive paste layer on the insulating substrates ; forming a masking film on the paste layer at locations between the electrodes; forcefully impelling particles against the paste layer to remove, by etching, portions of the paste layer where the masking film is not deposited; and exposing the paste layer to an annealing atmosphere so as to form partition walls between the electrodes.

    Abstract: The device has electrodes arranged alternately parallel one after the other on a first substrate. Further electrodes (53) are placed perpendicular on a first or second substrate. A first drive circuit (62) selectively drives the first electrodes (51). A second electrode drive circuit drives the second electrodes (52o). A third electrode drive circuit drives the third electrode (52e). First display cells (55) are formed at the intersections of the first, second and fourth electrodes (51,52o, 53) and second display cells (56) are formed at the intersections of the first, third and fourth electrodes(51,52e,53). The first display cells and the second display cells alternate to form an interlaced display. Then the second drive circuit for the electrodes and the drive circuit for the third electrodes applies voltages to the second and third electrodes respectively so that a firing discharge is induced in the third cells formed with the second and third electrodes.

    Abstract: A plasma display panel (PDP) is disclosed which includes a plurality of anodes formed on an upper plate, a plurality of first sustaining electrodes and a plurality of alternating second sustaining electrodes and cathodes formed on a lower plate, and a dielectric coated on the first and second sustaining electrodes and cathodes. A method for driving the PDP includes the steps of initiating a discharge by supplying a potential higher than the discharge firing voltage to the anodes and cathodes, generating a predetermined potential between the cathodes and first sustaining electrodes to increase the voltage generated from the discharge-initiating step, supplying a voltage higher than a discharge sustaining voltage between the first and second sustaining electrodes to maintain the discharge, and supplying a narrow pulse to the cathodes for erasing the discharge.
