Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC PDP capable of improving operation efficiency of a PDP by operating the PDP in such a way that ultraviolet is effectively generated so stimulate a phosphor. SOLUTION: An insulated conductive charging pad 11 is placed so as to improve operation efficiency of a gas-discharge flat-panel plasma display device. This device has a first substrate 6 and a second substrate 1 made of glass, and a closed space filled with gas. A plurality of electrodes 7 coated with dielectric thin film are arranged on the first substrate 6. A charged pad is placed on the first substrate 6, and the second substrate 1 is placed apart from the first substrate 6. The second substrate 1 has a plurality of micro voids related to an address electrode 2, filled with ionizable gas, and coated with phosphor 5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain optical clearness and transparency of at least two plates, for example, of glass forming the display by preventing a gas discharge groove of a light emitting gas discharge display from being heated or contaminated at the time of manufacture. SOLUTION: While the display is being manufactured, a by-pass tube (bridge tube) 36 is used for isolating a gas discharge groove 16 of a light emitting gas discharge display 10 from heat and contamination. The by-pass tube 36 is removed after that so that the light emitting discharge passage through the groove. In such a manner, a high quality and reliable lamplight or display for advertisement can be provided.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To deposit oxide-free metallic powder on a substrate by performing connection to a negative transfer arc power source where a plasma gun is made to an anode and a substrate is made to a cathode, at the time of spraying the powder of an easily oxidizable metal such as Ti, Ta and Al, on a substrate by means of a plasma stream. CONSTITUTION: A plasma stream 72 is generated from a plasma gun 16 and the fine-grained powder of an easily oxidizable metal such as Ti, Ta and Al, is supplied into the plasma stream and deposited on a substrate 70. At this time, a negative transfer arc power source 50 is arranged between the plasma gun 16 and the substrate 70 and the substrate 70 and the plasma gun 16 are connected to respective terminals 76, 74 so that they become a cathode and an anode, respectively. Oxide coatings on the surfaces of the supplied metal particles are removed by the steam of negative electrons from the substrate 70 and the particles of the metal, such as Ti, Ta and Al, free from oxide coatings can be deposited on the substrate 70.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce oxide formed on a work piece or prevent oxide from being formed, by installing a first means generating a plasma transfer arc containing a first ion flow toward the work piece, and a second means generating a second ion flow which has the inverse directivity and flows toward the work piece. CONSTITUTION: The flow direction of electron flow of a second transfer arc 20 is opposite to that of an electron flow between a plasma gun 12 and a target 14. A first transfer arc 18 functions so as to fuse the target 14 or fuse material and form or deposit it on the target 14. A second transfer arc 20 functions so as to eliminate oxide formed on the target 14 and clean it. As a result, oxide in any kinds of form scarcely exists on the target 14.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat type plasma display panel which has an independent trigger and controlled maintaining electrode, and can operate with a high efficiency. SOLUTION: In this flat type display panel, a pair of first parallel maintaining electrodes consisting of first and second maintaining electrodes (Y, Z) are formed on an upper glass substrate 12, and at least one of auxiliary electrodes (T, C) is coated on the substrate 12 in parallel to the pair of first parallel maintaining electrodes, and then the auxiliary electrodes (T, C) are adjacent to a first maintaining electrode in the pair of first parallel maintaining electrodes, and a pair of second parallel maintaining electrodes including first and second maintaining electrodes are coated on the substrate 12 in parallel to a trigger electrode (T), and a first maintaining electrode in the pair of second parallel maintaining electrodes is arranged adjacent to an auxiliary electrode so as to be a mirror image of the pair of first parallel maintaining electrodes. A single common first maintaining electrode pad (Z') is electrically connected to the first maintaining electrode in the pair of first maintaining electrodes and the first maintaining electrode in the pair of second maintaining electrodes, and then a first maintaining electrode pad is connected with a first voltage-waveform source, and then a first maintaining voltage-waveform is supplied to both first maintaining electrodes from a single electric source.
