Abstract:
A pushable frame includes a plurality of wheels to allow maneuvering due to a rolling motion of one or more wheels. A power generator is operatively connected to the wheels such that kinetic motion of the wheels caused by the frame being pushed or pulled by the user is converted into electric energy. A speed regulator is operatively connected with the plurality of wheels and the power generator such that a rolling speed of one or more wheels is controlled based on a rolling condition of the one or more wheels.
Abstract:
A handheld instrument for minimizing pain during administration by injection of a liquid, such as, an anesthetic that has a main body, a vibration unit mounted in the main body and a detachable tip cantilever mounted on the main body to vibrate. The tip has a free end characterized by a bifurcation to form two spaced projections defining a space between them, for placement in proximity to and bracketing a preselected injection site on a human or animal and vibrating while an injection is given. The instrument uses a polycarbonate rod as the medium through which vibrations are coupled to the tip and for lighting the injection site. The vibrations are pulsed for more effect.
Abstract:
A device for imparting therapeutic doses to living tissue is disclosed. The device includes a planar carrier including or structured to adjustably accommodate a multitude of electrodes. Positions of the electrodes may be altered by a user during a treatment procedure involving the impartation of therapeutic doses to the living tissue.
Abstract:
A handheld instrument for minimizing pain during administration by injection of a liquid, such as, an anesthetic that has a main body, a vibration unit mounted in the main body when initiated to cause the main body to vibrate, and a detachable tip cantilever mounted on the main body to vibrate with it, the tip having a free end characterized by a bifurcation to form two spaced projections defining a space between them, whereby the spaced projections can be placed in proximity to, adjacent to and bracketing a preselected injection site on a human or animal and the tissue at said preselected injection site and vibrated while an injection is given.
Abstract:
A device and method for improving the walk of people suffering from movement disorders are described. These disorders include freezing gait, start hesitation, festination and some difficulties with getting up from a chair or out of bed and are typically seen in Parkinson's disease suffers. The device includes a pulsed signal producing means (12) for producing pulsed signals and a frequency controlling means (16) for altering the frequency of the signals produced. The device also includes more than one output means (18) for transferring the signal to at least one sensory device (20). The method includes providing a series of regular pulsed sensory signals which act as a series of cues, to a person suffering from a movement disorder, to move in response to the cues.
Abstract:
An example system includes a first wearable computing device, and at least one additional wearable computing device. The first wearable computing device is configured to retrieve information regarding a series of tasks to be performed in treating a patient in cardiopulmonary arrest. The information includes, for each task, an indication of a user to perform the task, an indication of a time point to perform the task. The first wearable computing device is further configured identify one or more subsets of the information, and transmit each subset to a different corresponding one of the additional wearable computing devices. Each additional wearable computing device is configured to receive, from the first wearable computing device, at least one of the one or more subsets of the information, and output, for each task within a received subset, a corresponding prompt to perform the task at respective time point associated with the task.
Abstract:
An example sexual stimulation device includes a drive module, a stimulating element, a fulcrum, and a compliant member. The stimulating element has a first end coupled to the drive module in a manner such that the first end of the stimulating element moves along a first path when the drive module is operated. The stimulating element also has a second end opposite the first end. The fulcrum is disposed at a first point along an extension of the stimulating element such that the stimulating element pivots about the first point and the second end of the stimulating element translates according to a second path. The compliant member is coupled to the second end of the stimulating element.
Abstract:
A device vibrates body tissue to reduce pain experience by the body tissue in a therapeutic procedure. The device includes a frame and a tip connectable to the frame which can be activated to produce vibration. An electromagnetic reader is connected to the frame and includes an antenna for sending and receiving electromagnetic radiation. An electromagnetic tag is connected to the removable tip, and also has an antenna for sending and receiving electromagnetic radiation in communication with the electromagnetic reader antenna. The antennas are disposed proximate to each other when the removable tip is connected to the frame, whereby the electromagnetic tag can transmit information to the electromagnetic reader.
Abstract:
In an example implementation, a system includes one or more memory devices configured to store computer readable instructions, and a treatment adjustment engine that includes one or more processing devices. The treatment adjustment engine is configured to obtain a first image of an eye of a subject, and a second image of the eye of the subject. The second image is captured in the presence of an electronic light source. The treatment adjustment engine is further configured to determine, based on the first and second images, one or more metrics representing shapes of the iris and pupil in the corresponding images, and determine, based on the one or more metrics, a pupillometry measure of the subject. The treatment adjustment engine is also configured to generate a signal for adjusting a cardiopulmonary therapy based on the determined pupillometry measure.
