Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an improved eyelid care appliance and method of using such appliance for preventing and treating blepharitis and mammalian meibomian gland dysfunction caused by gland obstruction. The method and apparatus of the invention enable restoration and maintenance of eyelid hygiene and the natural flow of secretions from the meibomian glands. A preferred embodiment of the apparatus comprises an oscillating spongehead affixed to the distal end of the eyelid care appliance that is equipped with a video camera, near field communications link, and a display, thereby enabling a user to "fly" the spongehead onto an eyelid margin for self-administered cleaning of the user's eyelid margins. The spongehead can be impregnated with topical pharmacologic or cleansing agents to better facilitate cleaning and therapeutic efficacy.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A CPR machine (100) is configured to perform, on a patient's (182) chest, compressions that alternate with releases. The CPR machine includes a compression mechanism (148), and a driver system (141) configured to drive the compression mechanism. A force sensing system (149) may sense a compression force, and the driving can be adjusted accordingly if there is a surprise. For instance, driving may have been automatic according to a motion-time profile, which is adjusted if the compression force is not as expected (850). An optional chest-lifting device (152) may lift the chest between the compressions, to assist actively the decompression of the chest. A lifting force may be sensed, and the motion-time profile can be adjusted if the compression force or the lifting force is not as expected.
Abstract:
A stimulator including one or more vibrating units and a gripping mechanism for gripping a body part to be stimulated. The gripping mechanism includes at least one elastic element with a first arm and a second arm, at least one gripping member attached to the first arm and at least a second gripping member attached to the second arm. The gripping member or portion(s) or part(s) thereof are resilient. The gripping mechanism may be opened and closed by a separate applicator attachable to the stimulator. Different kits, with different combinations of stimulator consumables and parts are provided.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a face messaging device which can massage the full or a localized area of the face by operating a vibration module of a mask independently, without external power source, and can provide a variety of massaging functions simulating massaging effects performed by human hands, such as stroking, rubbing, pinching, pressing and tapping, by operating the vibrator of the vibration module in a variety of vibration patterns using a pulse width modulation (PWM). The face massaging device, according to the present invention, comprises: a mask having an accommodating space in the interior thereof; and at least one vibration module, which is accommodated in the accommodation space of the mask, and which can be operated independently with a power source therein.
Abstract:
A stylus and a treatment head for use with a medical device for imparting a force is provided. The stylus allows a practitioner to maintain focus on the treatment location while adjusting placement and force. This is because a light signal is emitted in the vicinity of the distal end of the stylus, proximate the treatment location on the patient. Alternatively, an audible or a tactile signal is employed for feedback. As a safety feature, the stylus is provided with means to allow it to collapse at forces above the acceptable limit.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for a walking aid are disclosed. The walking aid includes a walker having a frame configured to extend about a user of the walker to at least partially support the user and to facilitate the user progressing along a path from a current step to a next step while at least partially supported by the walker. A swivel mount is supported by the frame. A light source is connected to the swivel mount. The light source is configured to project a visual cue on a projection surface in the path between the current step and the next step to trigger the next step by the user. A controller is configured to adjust a visual property of the visual cue for use under indoor conditions and outdoor conditions.
