    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reference current generation circuit independent of not only changes in power supply voltage and temperature but also technical processes. SOLUTION: A reference current generator includes a pair of identical units G1, G2 for generating respective reference currents and a circuit CL for linearly connecting two references. Each of elements S1, S2 for determining respective operation points by current-voltage characteristics in respective units G1, G2 includes a single transistor(TR) T1 and a pair of TRs T2, T3 belonging to the same type as the TR T1 and connected in series. A differential amplifier AD stably maintains the operation points of respective units G1, G2 when power supply voltage is changed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the user to receive a digital service from a plurality of providers without the need for a plurality of user units. SOLUTION: Services served to the user (U) from a plurality of providers (SP) are identified by respective coded data streams such as MPEG data. Each of the users (U) is provided with a generic type reception means (STB) in common to all the users. Each user is provided with a user unit 105 in a form of a smart card preferably. The user unit 105 that adopts a processing function (VM) identifying, loading an executing at least one permission algorithm assembled in the data stream sent from each provider by using each identification code assembled in the served data stream enables the reception means to use the respective services.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a single-mode active optical fiber capable of eliminating conventional defects and to provide a method for producing the optical fiber. SOLUTION: This single-mode active optical fiber has a core prepared from a nonoxide glass doped with a rare earth element and a clad prepared from an oxide glass. The melting temperature of the glass of the clad is lower than that of the glass of the clad and is within the range of the softening temperature of the clad. In a preferred embodiment, the core is prepared from a chalcogen compound glass and the clad is prepared from a silica lead glass. In order to prepare the fiber, an element prepared from the nonoxide glass is introduced into a hole 2 of a capillary 1 made of the oxide glass to thereby provide a preform, which is then drawn at a certain temperature within the range of the softening temperature of the oxide glass. The capillary 1 acts as a container for the molten glass of the core during the drawing step.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a multi-function device to operate a compression video sequence by operating the device in one of plural modes corresponding to different functions. SOLUTION: Loading of a parameter given by an external controller to a decoder DIB is controlled by a microprocessor interface IU.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multi-mode cavity resonator that is resonated in 2 or 3 electromagnetic field modes, does not require a coupling screw and a tuning screw and is designed and manufactured easily and precisely by the design technology with the aid of computer. SOLUTION: The cavity resonator 1 includes at least one waveguide segment with an elliptic cross section and its axis has a prescribed tilt angle with respect to a polarized wave of an incident TE field. Thus, the dual mode cavity resonator is realized, in which two lateral fields TE having orthogonal polarized planes to each other are resonated. The triple mode cavity resonator is obtained by adding waveguide elements CR2, CR3 by which non-axial direction discontinuity is introduced and the longitudinal mode is resonated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the multi-mode (in general, triple mode) cavity resonator 1 for a waveguide band pass filter without the need for a tuning screw and a coupling screw and for round shaping. SOLUTION: The cavity resonator includes a waveguide element like an iris TR1 and a waveguide segment CR2. The waveguide segment is placed at a position eccentric in general with respect to a general extention of the cavity resonator, especially a major axis Z of the cavity resonator. The cavity resonator is used for a narrow band filter for satellite communication. The filter consisting of the cavity resonator 1 of a type of this embodiment is fully designed with an aid of an electronic computer and requires no calibration.
